whey shake - before / after / when?

I'm hearing all different opinions from many people I ask. Some say I should take a whey shake only on days I work out AN HOUR after a work out.

Others say take a shake everyday and it doesn't matter what time the shake is taken...so long as the protein is in the diet for the day.

I'm a hard gainer so I want to put on lbs...should I make a shake everyday or only on days after I work out?
 
Whey is definitely good to take shortly after a workout. But, if you are a hardgainer and trying to put on weight, I would take several protein shakes throughout the day, every day. Personally, I drink a whey shake first thing in the morning, then another after my mid-morning workout, then another mid-afternoon, and then a time released protein shake at night before bed. All of this is in addition to 4-5 small meals throughout the day, each containg some form of protein.
 
Appreciate the info. I'm going to start incorporating more shakes during the day..as that seems the best thing to do in order to keep the cals/proteins/fats coming so I can grow...faster.
 
i always have 1 scoop ON's whey protein with 10 oz of milk.....1 when i wake up,1 before i work out,1 after i work out and 1 right be4 i go 2 bed
 
Drink one in the morning as soon as you wake up because you're at a catabolic state and one right after your workout, almost immediately if possible.
 
Best bet:

Take one immediately when you wake up - (WHEY)
then drink 2 more (BLINDED) {With all three proteins blinded togther} through out the day
drink some Triple fusion before you work out
LOTS OF WATER while you work out
a WHEY protein drink immediately after you work out
and a slower brakedown (CASSIEN) protein before you go to bed.
Lots(A gallon or 2) of water through out the day

Make sure every protein you get is low in fat and mix with either water or Carb Counters Skim milk

If you dont see gains of nice lean muscle mass then go see a doctor, haha.
