that is a good question... I wanna know too same for me.. cheapest one that will work....

ACSM, NCSA, NASM are all quite good. some require 4-year degrees though

I did NASM, it was a very good functional approach. you can also do it online if you can't make one of the training seminars

Four year degrees in what? Physiology? Kinesiology?

some exercise-y related major. you can do slightly more esoteric stuff like nutritional science, or even straight up biology

do you go this route??? says home study and test at home..
so how does this work... just like a open book test???

this is from website....."""When I order a "home-study" program, do I go somewhere to take a test?
No! The home-study programs are designed so ALL of your course work, including your test, can be done at your pace in the privacy of your own home. ALL your material will be mailed at one time. Our unique study methods allow you to maximize the learning process, rather than simply memorizing facts to do well on a test. ??? so if you did this Devastation can you tell how it works... thanks man... to be honest I took the ACE and failed by like 5 point?? the questions were so tward blood pressure and what if they weight this and are at this age ... and have an injury to this....
thanx man fill me in ....

the ISSA is a good one also... go to fitnesseducation.com, if you cant afford it, call them and you can make monthly payments on the price of the package...

I am finishing up a D.S degree in Health science, with a focus in Pt and a minor in exercise science. From my experience ACSM seems to be the way to go, but alot of gyms (Bally's, Lifetime) want you to get your certification from whomever they are in buisiness with (ISSA, NCSA ect...). Most places DON'T require a degree for personal training, but they do if you wanna be a Health and Fitness instructor. Hope that helps some.
