when you sleep where is your gun?

i got a .45cal glock 21 for xmas mainly to prevent break-ins/self defense.I was wondering where you keep it when you sleep? under your pillow? is it loaded or do you keep the clip and the pistol separate? I dont really want to put a loaded .45cal gun under my pillow but i want it to be handy if need be..

Depends which firearm I pick for home defense. If it'S my P7 then I have no problem keeping it loaded AND one round in the chamber since it has a squeeze cocker.

If it's my shotgun (PA3), loaded, rounds in the chamber but the safety is ON. That shit has a very sensitive trigger.

Never kept my G29 for next to my bed but that would be loaded and no rounds in the chamber.

correct me if i am wromg but glocks safety isnt a "true" safety. If its pulled it will shoot..i guess in the sock drawer loaded would be the best idea, thanks manny for answering so many questions

I dont call those safeties indeed. The P7 squeeze cocker is a real safety. If dont squeeze it, the striker wont cock and your trigger will be useless.

why not just put it on the night stand with the mag next to the pistol,it isnt hard to load and cock

Why the mag next to the pistol ? As long as there's no round in the chamber I cant figure how the pistol would be dangerous.

I have a nice, easy to use gun safe that fits under my bed. I can open it (its a series of 4 lighted buttons) in less than 2 seconds. One of my trusty HK's is ready to rock in the safe :).

Having both a child (it's the law in Fla) and 3 dogs in the house,
my guns are loaded yet secured/locked.

Accessable within <10 seconds.

Not the best option but the safest.

Bedside night stand, fully loaded and round chambered.

I really hope you were kidding about the "gun under your pillow" thing. If this is your first pistol I suggest some formal training. It will be safer for you and those you love and worse for any asshole that breaks into your home.

just know your weapon and how to properly use it. i sleep with it under my pillow all the time. but i'm a light sleeper and dont move around much. or it's on my coffe table next to the couch i sleep on. if you have one for break ins and self defense. no sense keeping it somewhere where you have to get up and get it, load it, chamber a round and look for the sorry bastard you're about to feed one to. thats why i keep it in arms reach so i can handle the threat if ever there. just know your weapon and how to handle and shoot it.
and dont be afraid of it!!!

I live in the mountains, so don't really worry about break-ins.

Have my loaded riot gun / street sweeper under my bed and a loaded 30.06 by the front door and a loaded 7mm Mag by the back slider. No kids either. Rifles come in handy when black bears get into our garbage cans and Coyotes start yippin' out the back door and wake us up!!

I keep my 45 on the night stand next to the bed. My wife keeps her cz p01 9mm under her pillow. My mossburg tactical is under the bed, and the yugo sks is in the corner.

i'm not a big fan of the P7, think it's ugly, but it does serve a purpose. SIG229 under the pillow full mag, one in the pipe. it's a double action /decocker so all i gotta do is squeeze a little harder on that first shot, but it's lights out for the bad guy in well under a second (from the time i wipe the sleep out of my eyes anyway.)
