that last a few days or weeks, do you leave the guys in your house to go do your thing, or do you stay in the entire time they are working?

Depends...if it's in the house and it's clear I'll be in the way I'll haul ass. If it's like roofing or something I'll hide inside.

but for the entire time? you ever leave them alone with access to your house?

Both. We have left the guys here to do their thing while we go to work, and also Lumberg has taken days off work to stay with the crew and supervise LOL but this crew already did a lot of work at Lumberg's Moms house and so there was that trust there already.

Are they renovating or something? My neighbors, when they had a second story added to their house they couldn't live there but they hid their valuables and visited often.

yeah, i'm having some renovations done but i can still live here, i'll just stay clear of certain areas. I think i'll hide the valuables and liquor.

Esp the liquor. Construction workers like Mr.Booze.

I'll get to the root of your question......I have had gear and weed stolen by construction guys. I got most of the gear back but not the weed. Everything goes with me in a briefcase if I have to leave them alone there! The booze and beer I leave as a peace offering and tell them don't touch until after 3pm and then be gentle or it will not be there tomorrow. I bring them beer if they are there after 4pm.

stilleto, maybe the foreman will be a hott dude.
and maybe, just maybe, you'll come home early on a friday afternoon.
Your feet are aching and all you want to do is just relax with a glass
of merlo and snort a few lines of xannies to chill. When you get home the foreman is
just packing up shop for the weekend. He sent the boys home early and finished up
solo. Though this work crew has been busy at your house for 2 weeks, they were
always gone by the time you got home from work.
A steaming hot day, the chiseled carpenter had his shirt off and the sweat gleamed on his broad chest. Before you got out of your honda your pussy was already glisenting with excitement.
As you exited your vehicle and made for your back door you couldn't peel your eyes away as he swing his gigantic hammer, gracefully pulling old nails before he left for the weekend. Instead of going inside, you busted up some xannies and approached the carpenter and said...

wtf?

I don't drive a honda!

The only guy I had really work on my house for an extended time was the bf of a woman I worked with, so I knew him and thus gave him a key & he did the work during the day while I was at work....

I've left contractors in my house alone before, but they were guys that had done a ton of work for me and my family.

The last time I did it was with some HVAC guys who were installing my central air. They went off and left the house unlocked and left the door standing wide open.

I was less than thrilled.

If possible I would never leave them unsupervised.

Even the landscapers will rob you blind. I caught them trying to steal a fucking tree once(worth about 10k to them). Its insane.

The only time I had work done, I went with a highly recommended contractor that was a) in business for quite a while, and b) highly recommended by a number of people I know. I didn't shop. If I just went with the lowest bidder I'd probably stay. I was fine leaving them, and Hannibal was there to make sure they behaved. He knows where people should and shouldn't be in the house. (my dog)

yeah, thats what I'm afraid of (the last two posts)... even if I trust the foreman, I don't know his workers- they will probably have a day laborer with them too - someone who doesn't have to report back to the boss the next day.

It isn't just outright theft. But the crap they'll try to pull is unreal.
I knew one guy who left in the morning with just the studs up, and came back to find everything sheetrocked.

He asks the guys are you sure you put in the insulation.

"Oh yeah, all done"

So he tells him Im going to take a hammer and break through one of these walls. If the insulation is there Ill pay you to replace what I broke. If not Im going to start breaking through all the walls to see if they werent insulated as well.

LOL

Sure enough he ended up breaking through every wall.

Stay there to keep them on their toes.

They'll probably work faster and will be less likely to steal or do a shitty job.
