when to throw in cardio.

When you guys cut after bulking for a few months, when do you throw in your cardio? i.e. Do you just hit the weights with intensity, diet properly and wait for your weight loss to level off and then throw it in? I'm thinking of just training with weights 5 days/week while dieting and then wait 'till my weight loss slows up a bit and gradually add cardio... Your thoughts?

I do cardo no matter what. 20 mins / day unless I have something to do where skipping cardio would give me extra time.

Gotta keep your most important muscle..the heart in shape.

excellent point.. I do cardio 3 times / wk bulking or 5 / wk cutting, makes me feel like I'm in great shape at all times...

I do zero cardio while bulking to get my baseline down to zero. Then when I cut, I use diet only until I hit my 2nd platue in dieting after the first carb reduction. Then I start it off with 30 in the morning 7 days a week, and after I platue off of that, I add in 30 minutes at night and go from there. So before A contest, I usually do just 4 weeks of cardio.

I personally prefer doing cardio over reducing calories. I seem to hold size better. This is from personal experience, and may not be for everyone. I usually cut sugars first, and do no cardio, when my fat loss slows, i eat clean, still pretty high cal. and no carbs before bed. I also start cardio, low intensity, about 40 mins three times a week in the morning on an empty stomach. When fat loss from this slows, and ONLY then, do i decrease cals, mostly in the form of carbs. I ALWAYS keep a post workout meal with simple carbs.Hope this helps, the point is you must learn your own body, but the basic principles you can learn on this board. Mr. X has great diet advice.-WULF

thanx for all the advice, think I'm gonna start with 2-3 days of light cardio, about 30 mins and take it from there.
