when someone is following you too closely in the car

I just wave my handgun behind me in the rear window for them to see. They almost always slow down.

I like my car, and my life and health and those of others on the road.

So I never risk somebody slamming into me from behind by braking. If somebody is tailgating you, you can just slow down.

I don't like tailgating but that doesn't mean I should risk an accident that could be far worse.

What if the tailgater slams into you, looses control, swerves into an adjacent lane and takes out a family that had nothing to do with the whole thing? Just because you had to hit the brake to teach them a lesson?

Would you be ok with that?

Actually I'm remembering a funny day when my husband and I were "taking a drive" which means cruising a lot of back roads and we had this happen not once, but twice. We were being tailgated on a very, very narrow, very twisty country road, there was only two lanes, one coming, one going and no shoulder. It's posted at like 25 or 35. And this was a road you don't want to go over the limit on, animals literally could be around the bend. So he's going the posted limit, and a woman is literally on our bumper (which makes me a wreck, seriously, I also cannot ride in a car that is tailgating someone). Then she went from being on our bumper to being on our bumper honking her horn after my husband brake tapped a few times. There was no other choice, IMO. She had a nice new car and we had our 15 year old minivan.

I'm not envisioning tailgating on a major highway, there's always somewhere to go to get away from it. Worst comes to worst, my husband will pull over if we're being tailgated.

I will do my best to keep them behind me, until I can get to a stop sign or red light, then I get out and fist fuck a mutha fuckers hoe ass bitch fucking eye socket. And if a ngr wanna get crunk, I always keeps my heater on me.

There's a fundamental question here... WHY would someone be tailgating you, if you're driving properly and aren't going too slowly in the fast lane, or something? If it's a one-lane road, just let them pass. I don't understand people who get all the way over on the left, and then slow down, and force all the faster traffic to change lanes to pass repeatedly. In 90% of freeway shootings in Los Angeles, it started with somebody turtling along at or below the speed limit in the left lane, and f**king with people who want to go faster. I know how angry that makes me.

Don't EVER tap the brakes at a tailgater. Most likely, they're already anxious and angry, and most likely if they're tailgating, they already have a bad driving record and don't care if they crash into you and get yet another accident on record. Just pull over into the next lane and let them by, or motion them to pass asap and LET THEM when they go for it. I don't know if my attitude on this comes with age and experience, of if I'm just more secure with my manhood... I just don't need to be the boss on the highway.

The law in California clearly states "SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT", no matter if the speed limit is 75 and you're already going 90... If somebody wants to go 110, you must by law pull over in the next lane to the right. That law is what they call "several" or standing apart from other laws. It has nothing to do with the speed limit. Some people don't know that, and it's not very well-published. In Texas, the left lane of a multi-lane road is for PASSING ONLY; not for driving in.

Nothing more annoying than people on a highway in the left lane doing the "speed limit" when there's room on the right.

just get the hell out of the way and let them pass, how hard is that.
last time i tapped my brakes the asshole pulled up beside me and wanted to pull over and fight (him and a carfull of bros, so no i didnt take him up on it), wouldnt let up either until about 2 miles down the freeway. had my handgun on me but what am i going to do, flash my piece and get the cops called on me for threatening with a deadly weapon? its my word against a carfull.
all that tap the brakes and send them a message crap isnt worth it, just let them pass.

THREE peeps are gonna quote it, including two notorious spelling/grammar whores, without a

"*brakes"

FINE :D

depends on the type of roadh, the traffic situation and what the driver looks like (age/sex/etc.). I either a) hit my brakes really hard or b) slow down to a ridiculous crawl and don't allow them to pass me
