If that sign was in LA tho - that shop would've been vandalized and burnt down within 2 days. I have yet to see any fast food worker in LA speak english to each while working.

I wouldn't move to fucking France or Burkina Faso with the expectation that I could continue to conduct all my business, get top-notch medical care, etc in pure English.

The part that bothers me most is when tax dollars are spent on court interpreters, multilingual signs, etc. You commit a crime, you don't need to speak english to understand you're in jail, motherfucker.

Thanks bro. I've lived in other countries, and it's not THAT hard to learn a new language. Yeah, if you're already an adult, you'll have a horrendous accent, but at least make an effort, you know?

Don't you think that if there were no other language support in courts, police departments, hospitals, or the DMV, that a) the immigrants who DO come here would learn passable english and b) the immigrants who won't learn english would leave or never come over?

What if a potential immigrant finds out his cousin died from brain swelling a day after they sent him home from the hospital cos he couldn't properly communicate what happened? What if an existing immigrant's aunt was in jail cos she couldn't understand the street signs or the judge?

Easy: they'd either learn English or (?:G|S)TFO (Get/Stay the fuck out).

I think that would solve a lot of problems, without unduly harming US Citizens.

last thing I like is when I go to order a coffee and a fucking towel head not only cannot be understood but he fucks up my order on top of it all...Damn it, u are here in america speak our f'n language or go back to where you came from!!!!!!!!!!!!! I like english speaking classes should be a major requirement to all people that move here and it should be illegal to speak any other language unless you are in the privacy of your own home!

that's just the tip of the iceberg. . .there's a lot of school districts in this country that have been forced to teach in english and spanish. . .even the small districts (like mine) "have to" have "english as a second language" faculty on staff. . .we have one family in town that is insisting that their kids be taught in farsi. . .fucking farsi??!! i live in the fucking sticks. . .in northcentral pa. . .fucking farsi???!!! what the fuck??!! there is NOT another country on the face of the fucking planet that would allow/encourage that shit, yet the rest of the shit-heels in the rest of the shit-heel world have the balls to wag their shit-stained fingers at us and tell us we're bad people. . .fucking ponderous, man.

You should have to learn english before you can become a US citizen or even here on a work/student visa.

That is one thing that I wholeheartedly agree with Conservatives about.

It's too bad a politician doesn't have the balls to create legislature regarding this.

Does anyone know is there would be a way to get such a referendum added to the November ballot? I'm sure it has to do with the amount of signed petitions and it may be limited to whatever state you are in but there has got to be a way for this to happen

Edit: I'm reading more about english language laws and it seems that 30 states have english as their official language. The problem is that it should be on a federal level for once.
