When it rains...it pours!

Long story short, my mother lived in Punta Gorda, so now she's living with me after the hurricane hit down there. The day after the storm we had to go down and get her because the damage in the area made it unlivable. Fortunately her home wasn't damaged much but she lives in a retirement village and they got hit bad. On the 2 1/2 hr. drive down there we didn't know if we'd find her alive or what...when we got to her she was cleaning off her car and mentally not in the best shape. She didn't know the storm was coming to her until 15 minutes before it hit so she hid in a closet praying with her rosery beads and clutching her crusifix. She said it felt like the house was going to blow apart. She hid there for an hour for the duration of the storm. She's still kinda wigged out and although electricity was turned back on down there, water is only good for flushing so she'll stay here for a while.

When we were down there hubby and I helped out in her neighborhood for a few hours taping up windows and skylights, pulling debris and small trees out of the roads. Many of the residents are snowbirds and they weren't in FL for the storm. We were taping up one last window when I goofed and a shard of glass sliced into my wrist. No hospitals were open so we bandaged up and headed back home for stitches. The glass cut into my ulner nerve so on Tuesday I'm going in for surgery to repair it. I'm also having a stage 2 melanoma removed from my back at the same time. Then I can finish wedding preparations in 3 weeks. Monday I have a face peel in the morning and a stress test in the afternoon. I also spent this past Monday night in a sleep center for sleep apnea diagnosis. When it rains, it pours! LOL

So...I've been busy and unfortunately keeping outta trouble. Miss you all!

Oh, man you are busy!! Sorry to hear about the trouble, but happy to hear about the wedding plans!! Hang in there & take care!!

Oh, and make sure you post up pics of the wedding!!

Hang in there Puddles...you get through all this crap (((((HUGS)))))...things we do for our parents!!

Thanks, girls!

I'm frustrated not being able to train right now. I can barely carry my purse or a bottled water in my hand. Hope after the surgery recovery is quick, I miss being in the gym! I was doing cardio but last weekend a guy friend stepped on my toe when we were at a club, he weighs a little over 250, and I know it's not broken but maybe fractured since it's still so sore, so I can do pilates but not much more. Grrrrrrrrrrr! I need a massage soon!

Darn Puddles you and your family has been through so much!!!
I can't imagine what your poor Mom just went through.

You must be a pretty strong lady! My hat is off to you.
And :bigkiss: and *Hug* hoping it helps in some way.

Your attitude is so wonderful! Good Karma will come to you in so many ways.

Awww...you ladies are the best!

My dr. skipped the stress test because my bp went back down, I lost 5 lbs, the ekg was perfect, and my bloodwork came back good. I was glad cuz I hate cardio! LOL

My belly's growling now and after midnight no more food till tomorrow night so I'm gonna go load up on some carbs...I'm thinking oatmeal with some apples and cinnamin. Then get a back rub from my hubby. :)

Thanks. I woke up to get my daughter off to school and couln't fall back to sleep so I'm drinking my black coffee until 9:00. Thank goodness for Starbucks!

Mom just left for the gym. Yesterday I took her over to Shapes and got her enrolled. The woman there was very kind and understanding about the temporary relocation and gave her 3 months, plus a free month for her and one free month for me (undated because of the surgery) to help train her for about $100. I used to be a member there years ago and this woman remembered me. I told her I train with my husband at World now and I'd just gotten my mom started in Golds a couple of months ago. They waived the enrollment fee and are also giving her an hour with a PT. Today is the weight and bf measurements and a more detailed tour of the place. They have all of the pool classes that she loves along with lots of classes geered towards older women. Mom's very happy. :) Mom's gonna be 65 in a couple of months and she does an hour on the treadmill at 3.5 about 5 or 6 days a week, that's much better than me! LOL

Surgery went well. :) Just can't use my right hand for a whiel. Thanks for all of the good wishes. Huggggggs to you all!

Good to hear surgery went well! Did ya get yourself something to eat??? Yum yum.

post-op meal was chocolate cake and starbucks. I asked hubby to get me one slice of this cake I love that I usually order for his b-day. It's the same place I'm gonna use for the wedding cake. They don't sell single slices so he got me a WHOLE CAKE! LOL I had one piece and that's all I'm having! Later after my cheat I had sardines, avacado and a peach. I gotta fit into my dress!

My arm is hurting terribly and I can't sleep, need to double up on the vicodins. Our employee called in sick for tomorrow already and hubby has an appt he really shouln't cancel so I have to work tomorrow. I called a friend to come in and work with me so it's gonna be fine. I can talk and she can do anything else that requires hands. LOL She recovered here 2 weeks ago from having her implants removed and has tomorrow off except for a doctor's appt in the morning (same dr. I went to today) so she's happy to help out. Thank goodness for good friends!

Keep up with the painkillers...I made the mistake of missing some doses with my c-sections man I really regretted that....pain management is very important!!

Hope tonight goes a little better for you...and the Chocolate cake sounds GOOD....hehe
