When is someone ready for their first cycle?

I'm 24, 6'1, 205lbs and 14-15%bf. My lifts go as follows

(I'm low balling to be on the safe side)

Squat 215x5
Bench 215x5
Row 170x3
Deadlifts 260x5
Military Press 105x5

My diet is in check. My BF has not changed over the last 10 pounds gained. I only gained 3%bf over the last 20 pounds gained. This took me a year though. But, that will most likely change over the next 10-20 pounds I gain. I'm in my 5th week of the Starrs 5x5 intermediate.

Overall, I just don't want to be a typical novice rushing into their first cycle. If I was to do a cycle I would of course run only test.

You need to wait... do some creatine/glutamine/ cardio you have a lot of room for improvement. Eat more!! I didnt start aas till 7 years of hard training and I peaked.

Yeah I figured that. I just finished a cycle of Creatine. I'm taking 10g of glutamine during my workouts. I haven't been doing much cardio with the exception of playing the drums, which if you watched me is high intensity for about an hour straight. I sometimes get mixed messages here. Sometimes people wait until they peak then start. Some people start early, get great result, and then get complemented.

If there is anything you should wait for, it should be to get your diet and supplementation in check. Whey protein, Multi vitamin, Fishoil, Creatine, Glutamine and others as well that you'll read here on the boards to help you get the best of your workouts. These are supps that should be taken all the time and not cycled. Once you get that in check you'll see yourself begin to put on size naturally and your strength will go up too. You'll notice that your recovery time in between workouts will improve. Throughout all this time continue to research here and ask questions and learn as much as you can before you start to use gear. If you bust your ass starting now, you can have these things in check within one year. Then it's gear time.

Thank you for your input. I use mostly Beverly International Proteins (or Muscle Milk) and Glutamine Select, Megaman Vitamin, and Champion Nutrition Power Creatine. But I do cycle my creatine. 3 months on 1 off. Recovery time is not a problem. I basically wanted to feel out which "schools" of thought some of you guys come from...A. wait until you peak then start gear B. start before you peak. I wanted to see if people had postive or negative experiences with either. I'm going to continue naturally though until I hit at least 225-230. So I have 20 more pounds to go at least. But since I started I put on 20 lbs and my BF has stayed stable (15%).

I waited till I was at:
5'10", 170

Squat 225x10
Bench 225x9
Row 200x10
Military Press 135x10

At that point I peaked and had a tough time getting stronger. Perfect time to start. You should wait 2 months. Trim up and get you diet perfect then start.

everey1 says wait until you get close to ur genetic limit b4 u start but fuk dat man, ur 24yrs old. u cud wait a year or 2 b4 u juice, by then youll be 26 or you could start now and be 230lbs+ by the time your 25.

i was about 175 at 5'8" 10%bf with 320 bench and lame squat, i would say it was probably too early but i have learned a lot and take my training seriously. you have more to grow natty but when u do start please read up a lot, and ask questions

Oh I would. I would just do a straight test cycle. 10 weeks of test cyp @ 500mg. 10 weeks on, 10 weeks off.

Nothing fancy. I'm just not sure from where. But I have time.

I was about as strong you when I started lifting and I feel I jumped the gun a little bit. In some ways it was good but at times it makes me wonder a little. I would get your big lifts up by 25-50 pounds first. I might be preaching something I didn't do, but I wish I would have done it nowadays. Despite what anyone says, after dabling with juice it becomes harder to gain naturally than if you have never used juice at all. Purely anecdotal but my experience nonetheless.

I was gonna be a smart ass:

Q: "When is someone ready for their first cycle?"

A: "Tuesday"

or

A: "five minutes after I get done filtering..."

Dumb, I know. Best of luck, bud. I started somewhere around where you are at now. But, use your own best judgement. Get plenty of personal experience and be patient.

if you have to ask, then you're not ready

LOL... What happen to the whole "ask questions and learn"??? I see what you guys are saying though...if i have to ask...yada yada...but then I woundn't get answers like the one psychedout gave, which I think is really valid and never thought about. So thank you a lot.

I got this from another thread. Now doesn't this sound like he started too early?

You should not ask that here,

I was 47 years old when I did my first cycle,

So I think late 40’s is a good time to start,

You are as short as you ever will be, and you have lost all your hair,

So there is nothing negative, it is all positive.

Good point....I was confused though about "You are as short as you ever will be, and you have lost all your hair,

I though the shrinking and hair loss was all ABC after school special bullshit

lol I personally think you should wait a bit. Set a goal like.. to get your bench up to 255 and your DL up to 405
see how long it takes to get there while eating hard and training hard. If it takes forever, you are probably ready, but if you make strong progress with just adding some extra food and pushing yourself you probably will be wasting your money.
