whats up with melatonin?

hi last week ( monday) i bought some melatonin at cvs because i couldnt sleep so 3 days after startign it (3 mg) i noticed im starting to get leaner and a bit more vascular , does melatonin release gh or something? i checked it out online and docs use it in anti aging therapy ? ( and im on nothign else been that way for 3 months )

Had a similar experience when I started using Melatonin. I was told that the increased time and quality of sleep that my body was releasing more GH. I have stayed with is ever since. Not sure if any of this is correct but it seems to make sense, plus there's nothing like a nice night sleep.
 
huh, it does make sense..i have always used valerian root becuase they said it was stronger than melatonin although i never noticed any increase in lean mass:bawling:
 
I feel that melatonin is much stronger than Valerian root.

Valerian does nothing for me, maybe relaxes me at most.

Melatonin puts my ass out in 15 minutes.
 
I believe that meltonin does increase gh levels. I'm going to bump this in the hope that someone who knows will post.
 
Valerian and melatonin work in two very different ways tho. Melatonin increases your serotonin levels as far as GH I have no idea, but i'll read this thread until someone who posts does.

Yeah, Velarian root is an herb with a calming effect.

Melatonin actually effects Seratonin levels.

I'm not sure if it directly effects GH levels, but it does put you in a deeper state of sleep. - because your body releases GH when in the deepest sleep (R.E.M.), this could in turn effect GH levels I would assume.

You can tell because when you use Melatonin because you will have funky dreams, you will sleep harder in a deeper sleep. I've heard it's technically supposed to be used for older people who aren't producing enough seratonin any more. But I use it because I had sleeping trouble, and I love it. You will build up a tolerance though, you should only use it when you absolutely have to.
 
every body produce melatonin (late in the evening when it gets dark)

so, taking extra melatonin would help you only if you don't produce enough of it!
that's why some people find it very effective and others not

Valerian root, which is an herb, should help getting asleep
