What's the lowest calories you ever did for getting ripped?

How many calories do you guys recommend if Im trying to lose my belly fat. Its pretty much the only place where I have a little too much. Im 5'8 170. I bulked from 155 and now want to get my abbs looking right. Im not sure if I should be running my ass off trying to lose calories, or if I should be doing the fat burn on the tread mill and just walking. My diet consists of hardly nothing but turkey, chicken, tuna, veggies, and whole grains.(other than my protien shakes).

>>>I always recomend 400-500 cals BELOW BMR .

BMR = weight x 12 .

FOR you = 2.000 cals . You can diet on 1.500-1.600 cals .

I know this should be in the diet forum but I wanted to give an update.

Today (9/8/05) I ate

2,550 calories
288g protein
177g carb

Lifted weights and did 300 cals worth of cardio. I think that probably puts me a negative output for calories which translates to fatloss.

btw, I was talking to a friend of mine today who has wrestled all his life and wrestled for missouri state till he hurt his shoulder and he said that he rarely ever eats over 1000 calories. He diets on 750 per day! He has dieted his whole life which his body has gotten used to so it can maintain itself on such a subcaloric diet. The most surprising thing is that he is built better than me. Large muscles and lean (sub 10% bf). It's pretty amazing to say the least.

>>> Bro , what is this ? Seriously you are eating almost 3.000 calories and you weight 190 lbs , do you really expect to lose any fat eating that much ?

Your BMR is probably something around 2.300 cals .

IF you wanna lose fat you better EAT LESS than 2.000 cals .

I say 1.800 would be good for you , that is 500 less than your BMR .

Go for a 45 / 35 / 20 ratio ( pro / carbs/fat )

45-35-20 ----- Am I reading that right in saying that: I should try to take in 45g protein and 35g carbs per 20g of fat? I am focusing my diet on 2000 cals and <=50g of fat per day and have been wondering what my carb target # should be.

nope, those are %ages of total caloric intake.

45% of calories should be protein, 35% carbs and 20% fats.

to convert from cals to grams :

1 gr Carb or Prot = 4 cals
1 gr Fat = 9 cals
