What's The Cheapest Source For Ala On The Planet?

a cheap place to get some supps is swansonvitamins not sure if they are cheaper then some of the above place but they have great custiomer service and low prices on things like zma, glutamine and others also

Don't hate me for doing math....

Or pay $28 for 180 300mg capsules, so, we'll cut it in half since you're saying R-ALA is twice as good, $28 for 180 150mg caps. So, for $8 you get 80 more caps at 50mg more? Check out nutriteam.com bro.

Well, you're right. It seems like a savings, but it still comes out to 18.5 cents per dose as compared to .20 cents per cap of r-ALA.

BTW, not to insinuate that racemix ALA is less potent, but the conversion I remember being used was you take twice as much to counter the drawback of taking both the s and r ALA side. I figure if you must take more, you might as well calculate dosage and price comparison accordingly. :D

I'm still debating what to do. I'm on my last bottle of r-ALA. I've been happy with it, but I'm willing to try something else if it saves money, but it all boils down to about the same amount of money per dosage--so why not stick with what you're happy with?

Iceman has some nice prices, but his recommended dosages would require I spend just as much to match what I'm taking in r-ALA now, so I'd not save any money over the long haul.

here is an estimation of efficacy: that is somewhat borne out in most people

with respect to glucose clearance:
-------------------------------------------------
younger people that are insulin sensitive

2-4 units r/s-ala to 1 unit r-ala
---------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------
for older people that are less insulin sensitive (typically people with blood sugar issues.. to some extent)

4-6 units of r/s-ala to 1 unit r-ala
---------------------------------------------------

with respect to lowering of plasma insulin:
--------------------------------------------------------------------

which is especially important to fat loss effects in older people and those that are less insulin sensitive

no comparison.. r/s does not lower insulin levels.. at least not in clinical trials.. but it may have some effect.. so it cannot be ruled out.. but the ratio is very likely greater than the 6 to1 above.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Times where r/s may have some different (perhaps even superior effects.. though likley better if an R-heavy mix.. perhaps mixing r/s caps and pure r caps) is with post workout meal where increased insulin levels may be less detrimental and perhaps helpful especially with two closely placed meals..

though BG you may want to try both.. these are just guidelines.. that tend to hold true.. at least with the sample given.. and they are approximations.. based on feedback and dosages used.. as well as extrapolations from the clinical data given..

Juiceseeker, Just use the R-ALA. It's light years ahead of ALA. r-ALA is six, count 'em, SIX times more potent than ALA and 28 times faster. You can just mail a money order to Anabolic Fitness.

ulter, I like to support your site but there are places that I can buy R-ala and R-ala powder for much cheaper. I know you were one of the first to come out which explains the price but do you see it coming down in the near future?

there is no place that you can buy third party lab tested r-ala for cheaper.

if you could get such powder.. the cost decrease and capping it yourself, with the potential degradation + cost and effort (r-ala is more difficult to cap and does require somewhat specific capping conditions).. it is not worth it to most people.

the big problem is that if you get powder, even if you get it from a manufacturer it may just be r-heavy or even just racemic (always test the material)

remember to add cost of caps, fillers, time to see what a saving there is.

though if pure, tested r-ala, were available as powder.. it might be worth it to some people. those - heavy on time and light on cash-
