whats my max?

I was just wondering what you guys thought my max on bench press might be. I did 300 for one rep a few weeks ago. I'm gonna go for another max in about a week. I like to max out once a month to check progress. Last time I BP'ed I got 225 for 10...235 for 8...245 for 6..so what do you think? 315 or more?

You said it already. Your max is 300. It'll stay at 300 until you change it.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but the other weights and reps don't indicate anything better than 300. All of these 1RM calculators, though, are just guesstimates and take no account of the human spirit and a lifter's indomitable will. Ask yourself how much you want to lift 315 and take your best shot. If you don't get it on this attempt ask yourself why not. Look at your training and ask yourself how it can be improved. Are you on a program you know to be solid and geared towards your goals? If you do get it, set a new goal and keep doing what works.

Good point

Those bench press calculators on bodybuilding.com don't work either if you tried to see there. I put up 205X3, and it said my max was 215. Right after I did 205X3 I did 245X1 unassisted. I need to work on endurance, but only you can find out what your max is.

hard to say cus I could get roughly those reps at those numbers when my max was 265
I was like 2 reps behind at 245 but the 225 was actually 2 reps ahead
maybe I'm more slow twitch
I dunno

True max can never be reached or known. The only way to really get an idea is to test it regularly and make it one of your goals for a while. Part of that goal may even involve cycling repetition training and one rep max focus from time to time. Getting stronger with the reps will increase one rep max and the other way around as well. Atleast for me these things prove true. Incline presses can also improve your flat bench max. Ive heard dumbbells work well too, but havent used them for chest in years. Things like speed bench to build explosive power and teach explosion seemed useful to when I was working up to 400. Theres alot more then raw strength involved. Theres alot of technique as well, and mental strength is a huge factor. Theres ALOT of factors that go into max lifts. KEEP KILLING THAT SHIT!!

Remember that when maxing out you probably don't want to be doing as many warm up sets as you have posted. Maybe try 45x8, 135x6, 225x3, 265x1 and then go for a 315 single.
