What's happening with good old values

I was on my way back home from my grand ma place tonight and I noticed that most
stores and even videos clubs were open! wtf is that capitalist world. Not even that now family members have to work on Sundays that we are destroying holidays for some peoples for some bucks ( yeah yeah I know they are pay double or even triple but still ).

I am mad, society is going somewhere I dislike

You'll love Germany then. EVERYTHING closes at 6pm on weekdays, saturdays SOME stores are open until 2pm and sundays NOTHING is open. I mean NOTHING. You can't get a pack of gum on a sunday.

Imagine my culture shock when I came to the Texas where everything is open 24h

we need to switch places then because I hate that everything is closed on holidays except the movies!! I have worked at jobs ( a long time ago ) where I had to work some holidays and it didnt bother me really....I think the only time I really got upset was when I had to be at work at 9 am on Jan 1st...that sucked.......

Capitalism, plain and simple, driven by greed. Glad to see a Houston member on the board. My hometown........and working on Sundays, or all nite, is the pits.

in america, business is 24X7X365. That's what keeps us ahead and that's why we have the highest stress levels and least amount of vacation time. Ain't it great!?!?

Here ( Qc ) they just realized that giving the rights to open on sundays ( since 10years+)
had destroyed many families, true.

just after i went to ali, me and my buds were looking for a place to eat, and everything was closed

If I was a business owner, I'd make damn sure my store was open all the time. Maybe not 24/7, but to hell with closing on holidays. When everyone has the day off, what do they do? They go shopping! They spend money!

BTW, most of the major companies open on Christmas (Blockbuster, Dominos) only schedule employees to work that day if the employee specificly requests it. If I was working a counter somewhere for $6/hr, I wouldn't mind coming in Christmas afternoon for double-time, y'know?
