im tryin to find a frame of reference here for a 175lb er. just tryin to get average numbers on squat, bench, and dead for curiosity's sake. i dont compete in powerlifting so i really have no idea. anyone have a link to some meet results or something i could check out? thanks

I don't have one with me, but you could get a powerliftingUSA with the top 100 lifts and totals in the country for the 181 class. Making the top 100 is a good place to start. It may not be average, but it's a good way to see what others are lifting and how you compare.

I've always been kinda partial to 69 myself...to each his/her own.

Along the lines of what DG21 said....you can get a Powerlifting USA at Barnes and Noble, or usually Borders will have it. Unfortunately they usually only get one or two copies..so they can save shelf room for a bunch of "tree huggin hippy crap". Best bet is to go as soon as the new issue comes out.

Name Weight Class Squat Bench Deadlift Total

La Tech's rookies last year:

Jake 181 405 275 425 1105
Bruce 181 315 240 345 900

Top 5 at 2003 USAPL Collegiate Nationals:

Kyle 181 562 325 617
Robert 181 562 330 578
Scott 181 523 325 606
Jason 181 512 336 578
Steve 181 556 292 606

The numbers at an Open National meet would be much higher. Maybe these numbers will allow you to look in between the rookies and those with a few years experience. You may also want to note that USAPL is a drug tested federation.

well just figured out by lookin at these numbers that im a ways off to say the least, but im thinkin if i'm lookin better by dec i may try to do a meet. my bench is 260lbs, squat 260:bawling: , dead 320lb so i still have a long way to go but hopefully ill get there.

king you will...don't give up. don't compare yourself to ANYONE

compare yourself to yourself. just be better than the man in the journal was the last week

today i was doin wide gr bench and i asked a guy in my gym that i knew powerlifted what was legal on grip and how squat went and everything and he said that they are havin a meet in my gym on oct 4. i may go ahead and try it out just for the experience. i already have a squat suit on the way so all i need is a shirt and the fee. but ill have to read up on the rules. its a nasa fed meet. and i'd be in the 187.? weight class bc they dont have a 181.

my bench is 260lbs, squat 360 , dead 320lb

as of now the numbers are:
bench- 275
squat- 365
dl--395

not great but have improved quite a bit on dl for me anyways and lil on bench and squat.

81 cm from forefinger to forefinger max allowable distance usually. or anything less of course.
