What would you be doing if you had never started lifted?

I started because of a really bad break up.

I would probably be a lot fatter and weaker.

i would be fatter and nastier
probably would never had finished college
i would probably be living my mom's house

miserable

fat and boring.

wait a minute, i turned out that way anyways!?!?!?!

nnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd be a 150 lb, 6' 2", long distance runner, with 12" arms, toothpick legs, and a 35" chest.

Boy I'm glad I started lifting.

i hate to think what might have happened if i never started training. i started lifting at 12, and at that time i was very depressed, i was hanging out with the wrong types of people for the attention and becuase they would me hang out with them. this was the time in my life where if i hadnt started lifting i probably would have started doing drugs, and drinking alot. today i would probably not be in college, i would have very very low self esteem, and probably just be in bad situations all the time.

had i not started lifting when i did, i would have missed out on alot of things im glad i did. i loved playing sports in high school, it gave me something to shoot for, something i could be good at, and feel good about. i love powerlifting, i cant picture my self doing anything else right now. i wouldnt have met alot of the people i have through powerlifting, and i certainly wouldnt have the freinds ive made through elitefitness.

weightlifting has had a HUGE positive impact on my life

This is a great post.

I have a question....kinda a offshoot of this post. Do you feel that weight lifting gives you a since of dedication and confidence that carries over in every day life. Ive found that when I really dedicate myself to weight lifting, I seeem to become successful in other areas

No question.

I am new to lifting but I can already tell a difference in my life. I have more confidence, feel better about my body, have more energy, and, honestly, have a much better relationship with my husband...

yeah, anything that can raise your confidence like weightlifting does. will help with other parts of your life.

Similar here-I was always big into sports, and for me sports and lifting went hand in hand, so you can't take away one without the other-

I was always pretty smart, but it seems my friends were always from the "wrong side of the tracks" (ie- the opposite of whatever side you are supposed to be on) but sports kept me from doing 99% of what they were doing...

I would not be in a good place if not for sports and lifting... I would probably be like the guy from the movie "blow" and I would have had a blast and I would now be in jail...

i think this should not just be limited to lifting weights, as many have pointed out, the weight traing an athletic involment have cahnged lives. it doesn't matter if you are a marathon runner, i feel a connection with those athletes as well, because they have dedicated themselves to achieving that goal.

this thread would be great for all of the communities that want to eliminate athletcs and extracuricular activites from schools for budget reasons

I would still weigh 140 lbs at 6'3......and I'd probably drink all the time.

How much are you now? I was 6'2 140 in March and now I'm 160, trying to get to 170 by Jan 1.

Revenge of the nerds.... I love that movie!

I have a very obsessive/addictive personality. If I didn't have athletics to fill that need, I'd probably be addicted to all kinds of drugs.

Id be a very very violent serial killer. Skinning people and hiding in the dark areas waiting to strike. Just kidding........ hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

When you fantasize about these things all day long at the age of 13, while your in a fucking closet in a classroom and kids are mocking you 24/7 calling you "crack head" and various things, spitting on you bouncing shit off your head jumping you and stealing your shit It kinda makes something snap in your brain Especially since thats all I can remember

prolly be 125, with a pot belly :(

or not be as bulky and look like an AF model...:)

glad im not one of those losers :D

I'd be drinking beer... Probably be 220lbs plus of fat...
I had a lot of chances to head down the wrong path in my life..
and to be honest... the dedication to trying to improve my physique and strength often times kicked me in the ass and told me not to do it. I was so focussed i couldn't take up the offers.

Ironically I'm drinking a bud light right now... but hey.. its been a long week :p
