Very soon you're going to being elbow deep in it so you might want to find a slang word you are comfortable with for future reference. :worried:

"shoo shoo"...for some reason we call it that in our family when we are talking about baby poop.

lol...I used to date a guy who had an 8 year old and a 4 year old. They would say "poopy" while we drove anywhere. They said it all the time and giggled. It was sort of funny in its absurdity, though.

"thingy"

might as well say "i'm too stupid to think of a real word to use, so i'll say 'thingy' "

even "THING" is perfectly fine.

"can you hand me that pointy thing?" is SOOO much better than "can you hand me that THINGY cause i'm an idiot and use made up words?"

ok, i'm sorry. i've gone off the deep end.

Ouuuuuu yeah - I know that one...
In that context - yup.

I had a boss once that would get insecure when I excelled so she would have to add her two cents to what ever I had done (usually in front of clients, especially if they liked what I was doing) and always started the sentence with "For your edification..."

I find that people that always talk about the importance of "communication", "team playing" and "problem solving" are usually the worse offenders of doing just the opposite of what they are preaching.

"Slippery slope" rubs me wrong often as well.

That said, in general I think people should talk less and do more.

I love bratwurst, with relish and mustard.

i like italian sausages minus all the gay connotions you might derive from this statement.
I was looking for italian suasage at the grocery when I lived in Florida. I couldn't find any.

So, dummy that I am walked up to the meat counter and said "I'm looking for an italian sausage. You got any back there?"

They were dying to laugh then I realized what I had said and took off.

:worried:

I really hate words that are used to put down or label people.

Like 'trash' as in used to call people trash. In high school our principal called out entire class 'trash' - because of 2 boys getting caught smoking and not adhering to the dress code.

Other words like that I hate are: 'Ho' as in calling women whores and racist put downs.

b0und (sticks and stones won't break my bones, but words - they kill me)

Natty. I hate that fucking word with a passion.

mayonnaise, meal, moist, delicious> absolutely hate that one.. delicious blaaaaaaaaa all food related... hmmm. never thought of that before, weird, wonder what meaning that has?

you're thinking of food and i'm thinking of something moist and delicious that i'd make a meal out of and then cover it with mayonnaise. . .what do you think the meaning of that is?? :FRlol:

sebaceous is another icky word... kinda reminds me of mayo :worried: :worried:

I'll have to agree with moist....and secrete...secrete just sounds digusting...

and I do not like it when people make up stupid slang terms, such as "delish" (meaning delicious) and "yummo"...as in, "Yummo, that's delish!"

btw, really really don't like Rachel Ray

Yep, I understand that 100%!!!!

Totally agree... I also hate " Aww, Bless" Londoners see a baby, Or someone who is cute and they say "Aww, Bless her"

UGH! Shut it....

I thik all words have their place and it's more the useage that irritates me.

Although I do hate hearing the word "CAN'T" not from a linguistic standpoint but moreso because it's usually an excuse.

I can't help you
I can't do that
You can't go out looking like that

bleh

Another annoying one . . . you made me think of it by not making the mistake :)

'I could care less'

Technically not a single word that I dislike, but four that are very annoying and so so wrong grrrrrr!! My boyfriend pointed it out to me on here and it's hard not to be irritated by it everytime you see it!

another one, "irreguardless", not a word, but you hear people use it when the word is simply, reguardless...
