What were your starting numbers?

New member
Also age, and prior athletic experience (like playing football)?

My numbers were:

Bench 95X4
Military 65X6
Squats 135X6 (I don't think I was going to parallel)
Deadlifts 135X3-4 (with horrible form, back rounded like a hunchback), got 95X3 with good form

bench: bar x 1-2
military: bar x 1-2
deads: when i started reading this board and started deadlifting i did em with 65lbs...think i still have video somewhere
squats: 65lbs

Nice, I see some MetallicA lyrics:D

I was 16 years old

flat bench: 95x6
incline bench: 65x5
squats: 135x6
deads: 275x6...this was about 2 months ago:D I just started deads, so 21 y/o

I got my WO journal from march 2002.. LOL.

squats 180 for like 10 shitty half reps, bench 135 for 10 and deadlifting 225 for 10.

Pitiful considering I was squatting 405 for reps when I was 21 & used to sprint & swim back in high school. Amazing how quickly the human body falls apart if you dont work it regularly.

tec post up that video :D

When I was around 20 years of age I was strong but then I lost interest for about 7 years.
When I started back I could hardly squat down with no weight. Bench was better but it was still rather pathetic.

13 years old, 154 lbs.

Bench: 45x8
squat: 65x10

Didn't start deadlifting until a couple years later. I learned by doing 3 plates at a high rack setting, and each week or so it was lowered slightly, until I was doing it from the floor.

Couldn't bench 90 on a machine

Squatted about 155

Didnt deadlift until Jan 2001, pulled 335 1st time trying

today I still can't bench 90
raw squat is in mid 400s
deadlift 515

23 when I started, 6' 2", 150 lbs (AH-NOLD!):

Bench: 135X8
CG Bench: 95X8
Incline: 95X8
Squat: What the f*ck is that??
Leg Press (since this was my primary quad excercise at the time): 4 plates/side for reps.
Chins: BWX6 or so
Rows: Only when I was in a canoe.

Since then my numbers have dramatically increased of course and I have a more educated selection of excercises.

8 months ago those were my numbers. That's when I started.

Now the bench is 160+ at 4x8 (max PR is 182 a few months ago), the squat is 275-300 at 4x8, and the deads are 250-275 4x8.

I'm 25, weigh 165, and have 7% bf.

Followup:
I was 172 with ~20% bf before I started.

Last night I arm wrestled my roomate. We armwrestled about 5 months ago and he beat me without any effort - he said it was like arm wrestling a 10 year old girl. Last night we had a draw, and that was at my absolute weakest point (day 3 of my 3day on, 1 day off workout cycle).

I'm looking forward to breaking 200 on the flat bench in a week or so as a PR.

I credit all of this to a girlfriend who rejected me that gave me the discipline to go to the gym and push myself beyond my ability.

15 years old. no athletics beside youth baseball, and basketball for 8 years, but then quit, and hadnt done anything in 3 years.

bench - 80 x 1
squats - 185 x 6 ( less than quater squats.....lol)
whats a deadlift???? i left high school after 3 years of working out with a deadlift total of 155.... thats the most weight they wanted us doing. they were afraid we would hurt our backs..... but also our coach's couldnt figure out why other schools were always stronger than us.
military press - seated with a back support - 65 x 2...lol

7.5 years later

bench - 315 x 1 (with a pause)
squats - 455 x 1 (belt and knee wraps)
deadlift - 425 x 1.
standing push press - 275 x 1.

in 7th grade, the first time i benched pressed i did 115 for 1, i deadlifted 135 for 1 and didnt squat till 9th grade where i did 135 for a few reps. by freshman year my bench max was 185. i didnt concentrate on legs till 11th grade.

Started training again seriously at 18, 135lbs.

Bench: 110
Squat: 135
Deads: 135

all for reps. I didn't start doing squats or deads until about 6 months and 20lbs later.

Bench is still pitiful, but increasing slowly.

All I remember from the first time I maxed on bench was that I got 125 at a bodyweight of 130 and I was 14. I don't think I did anything but bench and biceps curls for the first 6 months I lifted.

14 years old 5'6 140 pounds playing football since I was 11
Bench 140 for a max
Squat 165 for 10(who knows about depth but I had a strict coach who usually made us go low)
Deadlift-Never did them

Senior year I was 17 and was 5'8 175(played football all 4 years and wrestled as a frosh, also ran track)
265 bench
345 squat

22 years old now (played 4 years of college football)
5'8 195
340 bench
480 squat
Havent done hang cleans in a while but last time I maxed I was 183 and I got 275 which isnt great

thats impressive I have a buddy who benched 300 in 8th grade and he weighted about 160. Hes strong as an ox he wont lift for months and hell still rep 315 it pisses me off so much

Here is what I was capable of:

Bench Press: 115lb max. . . .I actually worked out with 70lbs because I was affraid of snapping my wrists or blowing out my back lol.
Squats: 120lbs x 8
Deadlifts: 180lbs
Barbell Rows - 50lbs x 10

lol...

At 16, 5'6", 115lbs, 5months ago...

Bench: 80lbs max
DB Curls: 12lbs x 10
Lat pulldowns: 60lbs x 10
(for some reason cant remember any other excercises...)

Now at 135 lbs...
Bench: About 150
DB Curls: 30 x 10
Lat pulldowns: 130 lbs x 10
Don't remember but squats about 2x what they were too...

Weak numbers but if you think about I've doubled my strength! :P

I still haven't maxed. Started at 6'1 125-130. Last Sept/Oct ('02) started just doing biceps and triceps...lol. Had no split, just started messing around trying bench and pulldowns. I had heard of squats and deadlifts already from skinnyguy.net, but was scared of them. Finally started squatting and deadlifting around March ('03). Also started eating right (at least sort of) around June. Now up to 161.

When I first started I could probably only do the bar for a few reps on bench. I took it easy on deadlifts starting out and still have not maxed. I'm going to go for 275 for a triple in a few weeks, though, so we'll see. Got 235 for a triple a few months ago. Squat still sucks. So does bench. And everything else. Trying to add 5 lbs a week now.

Took it easy on squats. Just when I was getting into them, I got runner's knee.

Lets see

90lbs
bench - 80lbs :( still have a journal of this stuff lol
squat - 140lbs
deadlifts - whats a deadlift
:(
muwahaha how things have changed!

Karma to all those who have progessed and relentlessly continue to progress, despite all that stand in their way!!!!! SOLID

Even after 3 years, I am still just starting

Actually got into lifting because I couldnt bench 20 lbs on a old school universal machine, and was weakest out of 100 people class

Started lifting weights at age 14 about 105-115lbs.

Bench press: 45lb bar with assistance. haha Ive become nearly 9X stronger on this movement since.

Real low weights on the machines. Dont remember much else. I know it didnt take too long to be racking many of the machines for reps. Freeweight took much longer.
