Lee New member Apr 22, 2003 #2 doesnt really matter, only difference is if u want a thicker or thinner bar. and a standard olympic 7' bar weighs 45 pounds.

Mine is a custom made 1.5" diameter bar that accepts standard plates. Won't bend with 505lbs on it. (Most I've had on it so far.) But, the ones you buy in the stores will bend badly right around 300lbs like you said. Pieces of shit. Joker
