What to mix creatine with??

rgosit

New member
i just ordered prolab creapure.. and i was wondering what i should mix it with to get the best results and what times to take it...

in the past i have seen the best results with 5 grams before w\out and 5 after.

suggestions??

The shit is cheap now so take it a twice a day with anything. I prefer a sugar type drink.

I like to take it with grape juice as well or I just order the grape punch flavor of PVL CRE X-12 and it has 6 grams of creatine and 40 carbs per 1 scoop serving, great for a post workout drink.

juice + creatine

In my opinion, I am not trying to cause a big argument but when I took creatine with juice I didnt absorb as much as I thought I was. I figured oh yeah grape juice thats what the bottle says thats what the dick at GNC says. But when I read more and more and more about creatine absorption and the way that it spikes your insulin I have realized that creatine YES should be taken immediately after working out, with high-glycemic simple sugars. (ex- Gatorade, etc.) That way your getting your simple sugars, without the fructuse that will make you fat. I have a bunch of articles that explain this in great detail and if any are interested I will post them on here but the bottom line is creatine + simple sugars (not fruit juice, fructose) immediately following your workout.

i am intrested in ur articles..

i was thinkning about taking 5 grams prewerkout in grape juice, by itself or maybe with glutamine cause i plan on taking both before i workout..
i herd gluatmine helps it absorb..dont kno if that is correct

and i was also resently told that a good idea was to mix my creatine and glutamine with my protein postworkout??

what do u guys thinkabout that??

5 grams creatine 5 gram glutamiune 2 servings of whey
2 cups of milk and a banana???

Thats definitely a good postworkout shake in my opinion... maybe a little bit more carbs depending on your bodyweight. Postworkout I take in around 50g of high-glycemic carbs and 20g of whey protein, along with 5g creatine + 5g glutamine. :D

buy caps , problem solved ;) ;)

that's not the point bro. caps vs. powder don't matter, it's about absorbtion.

IMHO: 100g dextrose or plain old table sugar with 25-50g of whey protein post workout ONLY for the avg. 200lb bodybuilder.

"loading" or other times should be with some simple sugars (fructose is a strange sugar, do some reading on it before you gobble up fruit or fruit juice with creatine) fruit= fiber+fructose. fruit= fructose.

the liver must convert fructose in-to glycogen etc.

ive herd something about there is a diffrence between mixxing creatine with white grape juice opposed to regular grape juice

postworkout i am goign to use what i stated above..

but im still looking for a formula for pre-werkout
1 hour before

Why would you take Creatine before a workout? Provided that you have already loaded your muscles should be essentially saturated with the creatine. Thus, the only times you should need Creatine is once a day on non-training days for maintenance, usually done first thing in the morn. when insulin sensitivity is higher, and post-workout when you have used up some of the creatine during the workout (which is also a time when you insulin sensitivity is high). You should also take it in the morning on training days. Other than that you should not really take it at any other time. Think about it, if your muscles are already saturated with it, how is taking some going to help before a workout. Unless you feel you'll get better results by taking it before a workout rather than the morning as a maintenance dose? Though everything I have read says to take it in the morning not before a workout.

FWIW, grape juice is 50% glucose, 50% fructose, so your okay with it. Buy some dextrose if you must, or check out the maltofern at the protein factory.

i have seen better results splitting, 5grams before and 5 grams after,

maybe ill try to the morning though...
whould i take this before, afterbreakfast? with breakfast???'
im not going to load/.. but i am comming off dimaxx

Why wouldn't you load? Sure you'll gain about the same amount of weight over time, but you will gain more strength and maybe a little size with loading. Initially you'll gain your strength from increasing the size suddenly of your muscle and attaining better leverage. However, since you are using more weight your muscles should hypertrophy more and give you more strength. I think it is very important to load as it will maximize the gains from creatine.

As far as when to take it. Take it before breakfast with some carbs as indicated earlier. I have also read a study that protein in conjunction with carbs helps to bring more creatine up to your muscles. They did not used to think this but it has been shown to be otherwise. So mixing it in water will work, if your breakfast contains enough protein and carbs w/o much fat.

You should consume anywhere from 5-10 grams of creatine immediatly after your workout. It deosn matter what type of juice you mix it with as long as you mix it with a good amount of simple carbs (although it dissolves best in grapejuice). You should combine it with folic acid, glutamine, taurine, and vandyle sulfate. This is what they call a creaglutamine cocktail.:D
