What to do about tendonitis?

I have tendonitis in one of my biceps.Have had it for several months now and it isn't getting any better despite not training arms or anything that affects it.I have used glucosamine and MSM without results.
Should I get a script for an anti-inflammatory or something?
I haven't been on steroids lately.

Try some Ibuprophen and start on the joint formulas with glucosamine/chondroitin and MSM. GH also helped me greatly.

Sometimes the syptoms of tendenitis can be mimicked by the effects of a misaligned bone/s of the upper extremity. In addition if there is a misalignment this may lead to altered body mechanics which could lead to tendonitis. It is worth going to a Chiropractic office that specializes in extremity adjustments just to see if you could be a candidate for treatment. As for injectable anti-inflamatories, bad idea bro, its inflamed for a reason and that is telling you not to use it. You inject some crap in there to cover it up and you run the risk of damaging things even more. Popping ibuprophen to cover pain while you train is just the same thing but does not last as long. Try least invasive first before drastic. Try to find and fix the cause and not just cover it up. Hope this helps bro. Good luck.

I read an article in IronMan magazine about exactly what you are talking about. You might try to see if you can access their back issues on line. The suggested problem was having the bicep tendon misplaced causing pain and inflammation, any exercise involving the shoulders can contribute. The author suggested taking a large rolled towel, placing it into the armpit and then pressing the arm at the elbow against a wall firmly using the towel like a fulcrum. This supposedly will slip the tendon back into place. Personally I would see a Chiro my self, but if you find this article it may help.

Actually,I tore my pec on the same side of my body six months ago.I was suspecting this had something to do with it.
Unfortunately I had to see many specialists about the pec until they decided to operate and I'm still waiting for the damn operation!

Thanks,I will try this!

Another thing you can do that helps is to put a hot-pack for 15-20 minutes( moist heat, wrap a wet towel in a dry one, microwave it for 4 minutes) before you even warm-up. Stretch, Warm up, work out, then ice it for 15-20 minutes( use an ice-bag or ice, works better than those gel packs). I do this for rotator cuff tendonitis and it has helped.

i told a dude with shoulder pain yesterday to try naproxen sodium, i have terrible pain in my forearm bicep area and i use 2-220ms tabs of this stuff an hour or so before and after i work out and its done a good job.
You can get it anywhere and its cheap, anyway its worth a shot bro. i went up to 315*6 on incline yesterday with very little pain.

Anything to reduce the swelling will only prolong the healing process. Inflamation is the way the body targets healing. I suggest you check into prolotherapy, its been working wonders for me.

massage

Deep tissue massage is the ONLY thing that worked for me. I'd been fighting this in my biceps/forearms for two years. Tried EVERYTHING.

If it's as bad as mine was (which was horrible) lay off for two or three months and go for weekly deep tissue massage's. The kind that really HURT. Have them do 15 or 20 minutes per arm. I know it's expensive but it will work.

If your worried about losing muscles during a lay off you can do what I did..........do a cycle while off. You can just do cardio and consider it a cutting cycle. Worked great for me and kept me from losing muscle.

Hank

One more thing I just remembered.....If it's really bad you might consider using lighter weights with more reps for bicep's and some of the back (pulling) movements. Those are the ones that bother mine the most. Yeah it kind of sucks but it still works pretty good.

Bro, Cortisone will ultimately weaken the tendon, Prolotherapy will strengthen it.
Exactly my thoughts.
