I lift every other day...i figured why try to cram everything in a week, wtf the body won't know the difference...so now i train 4 times every 8 days, works perfect...2 bp days, 2 sq days

WIth that kind of weight, you're greatly increasing the risk of injuries. I'd stick to lighter weight and higher reps. 395 on a pause bench is what tore my pec. The weight didn't feel that heavy, but my pec tendon couldn't handle it that day. I never thought that I would have such a serious injury. I learned the hard way. I think I had a small tear in it and I just ripped it like velcro that day.

Are you kidding? Benching with a pogo stick is not a real bench press. That's not for me.

lol well then face more injury, if that is more manly...think of it like this, footballers wear helmets to protect their heads, heavy bp'ers wear shirts to protect them from pec injury...makes perfect sense to me, but if you insist on hurting yourself, go with that

Didn't know they protect you from injury. I injured myself just putting one on once. Had to have 2 people help me get it on and it was cutting into my arms. Only time I ever tried one. Way too much trouble. I'll stick to lighter weights and higher reps from now on. No more power lifting more me. The goal I had can't be reached now so there's no point.

That soreness just means you're not well-conditioned. If you were to bench twice a week you'd almost assuredly not get sore after a bit of acclimation. The fact that you get sore every time means you probably recover TOO much b/t sessions and lose the increased capacity you should have accumulated. If this sounds intriguing, read the article at this site called "How planned overtraining can be beneficial" (or something to that effect- the exact title escapes me):

ah... i think this thread was moved from chat- hence the language. the lifting forum is a cleaner, more adult place, but people might not realize thats where we are.
