Formerly being also of the Physics persuasion, when I was in college as a member of our local branch of the Society of Physics Students (and its secretary for a few yrs) we'd pretty much sit around drinking Schaeffers beer & challenge each other to name heavy metals songs w/in x number of notes.

Granted this was back in the mid 80s before "hair bands" passed that point of no return and then fizzled out...
