What kind of motor oil do you put in your car?

10w-50w is a mixure of oil weighing 10W to 50W same with all others.

Hahaha, I hope that's not an accurate assessment of your understanding of multi-viscosity oil.

The two numbers repepresent the viscosity index; the first when cold, the second when hot. The thing is, straight-weight oil gets a lot thinner when it's hot. The multi-vis oil thins LESS with heat. For example, a 10w50 oil, when cold, has a viscosity index of 10. When hot, it has the same viscosity index as a straight-weight 50W oil would at that temperature.

What kind of car? I guess my question was whether the type of viscosity matters compared to what kind of car you drive. Such as Full Size Truck, SUV, compact cars, etc.

I know a few people who have Mercedes and BMW cars that have that Bosch oil quality sensor thingy, that tells you when it's time to change your oil based on some instantaneous measurement of the oil. I dunno what it is exactly that it measures. But at any rate, none of them have ever had it go off before 11,000 miles.

You are correct ,still it takes a blend of oil to reach this index!

No lie, all the mechanics I talk to say Castrol.

Castrol is some good shit, but they got sued a few years back for calling their Syntec "full synthetic" when technically it really wasn't.
