I eat the same food all year round. I might lower carbs and add cardio but I really don't get the point of doing a bulk where you end up having to struggle and really fight to lose the fat.. seems kinda pointless. I like to have abs all year round

I agree completely. I'm not a big fan of huge surpluses or defects. Slow and steady wins the race
 
For cutting, it definitely comes down to what works for the individual. I really like starting the day off with NO carbs just protein and fat (this is how I eat normally and keeps insulin low to none). Because I am very insulin/carb sensitive, I have carbs in the middle meals with protein and lower fats, then I have fat/protein at night before bed.

I like carb cycling but modified. It's very hard to maintain doing high medium low medium low medium blah blah blah.

Find what works for you and stick to it!
