what is your monthly cost of living?

Minus $2000-$3000. According to my calculations I should be bankrupt soon or I have to spend ALOT less.

Maybe $600 a month. I own my truck. My parents will pay for my car insurance as long as I don't get any tickets (which saves me a lot of money). My honey and I split the rest of the bills except for my cell and internet.

But I'm really hard to pay of the credit cards I ran up when I was 19/20. Over half of my income goes to that....and I should have it all paid off in 12-14 months. I also make myself take money out of every check for savings. I can't wait to be out of debt.

rent 245
electric 40
phone 15
tv/internet 45
gas 15

so household (minus transportation, food, or misc.) is $360/month.

auto gas 80, ins. 50

food - $220 or so. Plus another $200/month for various misc. things.

how can you only spend 750 a month? rent is $700 a month, and that's for a fucking shoebox with a folger's can for a toilet.

No its not. Here in the midwest, in a really small town (5k people or so) a 2 bedroom is as low as $260/month. And its no different than any other 2 bedroom apartment, just the real estate is different.

ive met people who survived on $400/month somehow. $200 for rent, another $200 for food, utilities, transportation (usually a bike or buspass), misc. Amazing.

When my brother & his wife were in ohio and he attended grad school they spent like $1100/month for both of them, which is amazing, thats like the wages of one $7/hr job to support 2 people.

almost zero come to think of it

i have a self contained unit under my parents (very large) house, and contribute here and there, but its no big deal

everything is paid off though (car etc) so there are no ongoing bills at all

its the greatest feeling in the world to know that work really is optional, and only neccessary if you are avaricious

I was engaged for 2 years before getting married with the idea of saving money in that time period. We saved about $4000/month for 2 years. It was a BIG help for us to have a financial base. It was worth waiting.

Now married with a kid, We spend more than we make. At some point something must give. lol
