What is the "right" age to get married/settle down?

honestly if you are a guy wait till your late 30's/early 40's.. focus on education/gaining knowledge in your 20's.. focus on your career in your 30's and then worry about getting married in your 40's and having kids if you want. just don't get serious with anyone till later in life.. there are so many single professional women in their 30's (unless you live in rural america) that you can lineup and have your pick of if you are a successful healthy guy in his late 30's/early 40's and they are looking for you.

those same people you are watching get married and have kids will probably be divorced in 5 years and be paying child support for the next 18 years. and all the while you would have been saving money and have 6 figs sitting in the bank with a great career. move to south florida, NY, or any large metro area.. even Atlanta, Philly, DC... and there are ample single people in their early 30's... you would fit in much better there with your view of life.

I dated a chick for 6 yrs and she lived with me for most of that and I learned pretty quick that I wasn't ready for married life. Now I'm 38 and what Steve said is correct. I'm still way off. EVERYONE I work with is married and the new marriages are all happy go fuckin lucky fun couples but about that 4 - 6 yr mark shit starts getting old reeeeel quick and they're spending more time at work and love going on trips. I just went on a trip with a guy that's supposedly happily married for ten yrs. He spent more damn time talking back with the office to set up somethin and go check out some issues out of town for the next week. I asked him about always trying to travel and he said he loves being on the road and do what ever the fuck he wants.
