not the best by any means, but my favorite at the moment : Kanye West. Dude is a talented rapper, even more talented producer, and sings about shit thats actually worthwhile. Rap has hardly changed in years, and I think guys like Kanye are bringing in something of a quiet revolution

P.M. Dawn was pretty good. He's more hip hop than rap but some of his songs are rap. LL Cool J or RUN DMC are probably my faves.

I gotta agree with Havoc on the Redman issue, Matt. A legendary MC he may be but definitely not one of the all-time greats. Gotta love "Do What Ya Feel" and a few other tracks he's done.

Dre is the best producer rap has ever seen but there are many great producers out there. RZA is up there on a similar level, also Timbaland and Manny Fresh have put down solid beats.

Wu-Tang Forever collectively between the 2 discs was probably as good as 36 Chambers, just not as groundbreaking / revolutionary.
"Triumph", "Reunited", "Visionz", "Impossible", "Bells of War", "As High As Wu-Tang Get", etc... we're talkin jewels here.
