What is love?

"Falling in love" sounds pretty stupid to me, yet most of you said you've done it at least once. What exactly do you see as the difference between love and lust? To me, love is just another way of saying you care about someone. I see no difference between the love I have for my family, and the love I have for my fiance. The only difference is that I don't have sex with my family. So that leads me to conclude that lust+caring = love?

Your thoughts?

I agree with that somewhat...

But, I don't generally want to be with my family ALL the time. When I was in love i wanted to be with him day and night. I couldn't get enough. I wanted to make him happy. I thought about him all day. If I went food shopping I would go out of my way to get his favorite snacks. I KNEW what his favorite snacks were!!! I know my mom likes chocolate, but that's really it. I don't know what her favorite thing to eat is.....

So, I say the same love you show your family is a little more exagerated when it's "love"...

Unltimately it's tolerance.

Lust and sex isn't about tolerance and that's the big difference.
 
Love =

- I care more about her than me. (I'de take a bullet for her)
- I still want her even as I come to know her flaws. (Stay in bed even after she farts)
- I come to love and accept every thing about her. (I clean the toilet after she splash it with diarrea from some bad Tacos we had)


I hate being in love.

somethings a bit off with your equation. lust+caring=love. If that's true then, if you love your family then you would want to have sex with them.

IMO there are different kinds of love. The love you have for your family, your pets, your friends, your girlfriend or wife. To me, all are different.

No, you missed my point. I was saying I think love is the same thing as caring. Being "in love" or whatever would be lust+caring.
