what dosage for proscar-first time user

I have 5 mg tabs I was just going to cut them in quarters and take one a day. I will be using 1 gram of test if that matters. Only weigh about 185 now with low bodyfat. Thanks for your info.

Mine are triangle shaped so I cut them in thirds...You only need 1mg a day...

Is this absolutely nessecary when using test, or only when using large amounts? Also what do you use it for, to protect your hairline or your prostate. Personally I find saw palmetto at only 320mg/day to be very useful in relieving prostate discomfort.
