cuz I've seen many other threads that were much worse. So I'm thinking you didn't hear from god on this, cuz he'd be wrong.

I'm not sure why some feel the need to mock people who have beliefs about callings from god, especially when those callings are not doing anyone any harm.
My mom left a nursing career at a hospital where she was the head of the infectious disease department to be a priest because of one of those callings and I'd bet my last dollar she's more sane, kind, smart and all around fan-fucking-tastic than most of the people in this thread. I've certainly never heard her make fun of or question the sanity of anyone who believed something different than her when it came to matters of faith.

You mean head of infection control, right? Dear god, that would be reason enough to quit.
lol, yeah. She loved her medical career though. To hear her tell it she ignored the feeling that she was being called to the priesthood for ten years before giving in. She says, "God is a nag."
She's a great woman who was intensely loved by all her parishioners and did a lot of really great things in her time as a minister, I dare anyone to put their lives up next to hers in comparison.

I know a lot of people at the hospital were really fond of my mom at least on a personal level, but I don't understand hospital dynamics and she left that career when i was six.
Last heard from a nurse doing a VRE
swab in the ER:
"Do you want me to do the swab, or can you do it yourself" ?

Here's an 'amen' to your mom on the "God is a nag" comment. I think I'd just say He is very persistent. (understatement alert)
