It hurts to take a deep breath. It feels like my chest cavity is being squeezed by a vice. I have lung capacity (not congested) but damn the chest pains when i breathe. it really hurts.

yesterday I did hang cleans and push presses pretty much balls to the wall and my whole upper bosy is really sore as well. could this be contributing to my chest pains?

Is there a doctor in the house?

I'm no doc, but it sounds like you have strained or just even over used some rib muscles. Sometimes I get chest pains if I don't drink enough water to lubricate the lungs. Hope you feel better soon.
 
SoKlu, I dont have any congestion at this point. I dont think I have a virus or anything. I thought maybe it was soreness from the workout, but when i touch my chest muscles (poke) there is no soreness there in particular. The chest feels tight when i take a deep breath though. (no wheezing, just tight). Its the upper chest (between my boobies and my clavicle).

when i have sinus drainage or something sometimes my chest does that.
I breathe deep and it hurts or it feels tight.
do u have a headache?
 
let's turn this into a push-press thread. I've never understood them, what the purpose was. The peeps i see doing them do them cause they can
push more than they clean and press thus making them feel "cooler"
in other words, it seems like a half assed clean and press or a 1/4 ass clean and jerk

dude. a) i strict press from 65-85 then i start with the push presses. its an explosive power movement, so is a clean. do you want to be explosive? powerful?

that's what I thought.

i just think their is better exercises for explosiveness, namely the clean and jerk or sq...the only compound movements i train are the big 3

you technically do not even have to clean the bar to do a push press, but that isn't ideal. It's helps with explosive strength and power. Also, it has carry over into the standing OHP and military press. plus they are fun as smoking a pack of Newports then heading down to Walmart - right, Smurf?
 
I have no good advice but I thought I would take this time to tell you that you are one cool chicka. You're real, you're out there with the boys, you don't take shit and you don't blow any fake air up anyone's panties and dammit I like that about you.

thats great!!!

i do them because i really enjoy the movement and i think its fun and also people look funny at me at the gym. (i like to make a spectacle of myself). I dont clean and jerk mainly because I never learned how to do the jerk part. But i bet you have the jerk thing downpat, right?

I've messed around with the clean and jerk but have had no formal training or put up significant weight. My gym doesn't have the rubber weights and room for that shit, though I would love to get into O lifting. raw as fuck
