What do you guys do in between sets?

some times my mind go's off on other things instead of staying "in the zone" ....just wondering what you guys think about and/or do in between sets

thanks

if my training partner is there....... we usually talk about stupid crap from arnold to dragon ball z.

if my fiancee is there we talk about sex.

which is why i love training by myself........ i think about lifting..... i pose....... flex....... and keep my mind focused.

If it's a calf lift, I usually just collapse into a mound and focus on breathing.

Deadlifts, rows, and squats, I walk around in circles for a minute or two. It huuuuuurts...

Anything else I just usually stretch and reflect on life.

No need to waste energy staying 'zoned' while I'm resting, there's plenty of time for that after I'm going again.

thats great to be able to do that.,....... you have found what works for you....... and thats what is really important....... it doesnt appear that you loose any focus either.......... i do it my way for the same reason....... the flexing the posing and gathering of energy are neccesary for me........ i dont do it for show....... im not phoney like that.......

so in a sense you "stay in the zone" by getting out of it...... interesting....

bump for other people techniques.

The weights pressing against me are enough to get me going - that's all I need. It's always in the back of my mind that I want to be stronger and look better, and this is what it takes to do that.

How I can improve my form, or what's invariably pissing me off in life - what I'm usually thinking about when I'm resting at the gym - is all it takes for me to stay focused. None of this frilly "pow-wow at the gym" stuff. :)

I superset so there's not much time between sets, just enough to catch my breath

water

stretch

re-adjust my gloves or straps as a re-focusing tool.

spatts - can't on the gloves...occasionally I get paid for them....

Walk to the water fountain and have a drink...
If a partner is there, talk about how much we will lift in 2 weeks, 2 months, 2 years...
Check out the sexy older women..
Watch the monsters lift and try to count how much they are lifting..
Stretch..
Think about eating...

Thats my list.. If I'm hung over I go into a really wierd zone... I hate working out when im hung..

Well today I danced around like Elmo and did my impersonation of him singing Bodies by Drowning Pool.

I don't know how effective it was, but it could be what you training is missing...give it a try.

im usually loading up plates or spotting, or getting help on my form..
and occasionally , laughing at the half squatters in the power rack,

He's not kidding...he did the Elmo's World version:

BodiesBodiesBodies...BodiesBodiesBodies....Bodies, Bodies, Bo-Dies.

For those of you that DON'T watch Elmo's World, it's sung to the tune of Jingle Bells.

Hannibal is a hoot!

:lmao:

I mostly just burp, fart, and pick my underoos out of my crack a lot...you can ask Night Fly to confirm. :) (I know, it takes a special person to love someone like me)

I normally spot my partner and try to not think about anything. We normally talk about the people with shitty form and how they are going to get hurt. But when it comes time to get under the bar My mind just clears and I before I no it I am done and switching around plate and spoting. The only time we really take long enough breaks to talk is when we squat and then it is just so we can get our mind off the pain.

If I'm working in with someone, I'll spot them, talk with them. Otherwise, I just rest for 1-3 minutes, depending on the exercise.
