To reiterate: It is a mistake to confuse homosexuality as identity with homosexual behavior.

It was not until homosexuality was pathologized that it became an identity marker. Because of that, anyone who has sex with a man in this culture ends up being pressured to assume an identity. Homosexual interactions were not incompatible with heterosexual ones in certain periods of the Greek and Roman civilizations and, to some degree, that's still true in the Mediterranean world.

If you read any of the earlier Christian screeds against homosexuality you realize that underlying them is the acknowledgement that sex with members of your own gender is a ubiquitous temptation. The contemporary instantaneous disgust in the face of the idea is pure acculturation of the taboo....which breaks down quite rapidly in certain circumstances, as we all know quite well.

1. As a kid never played with dolls but most of my friends where girls.
2. I was born gay and as far as I recall have looked at boys and felt something I did not feel while looking at girls. Without a doubt I was born gay though I never thought it was unusual to be attracted to males as I did not know what gay was until my teens.
3. I like gay bars because I am gay. I am attracted to men so why go to a bar that has men that only want women? Though a challenge I have no desire to be with a confused straight male.
4. No gay flag or parades for me. There is no straight parade so why have a gay one.

I am very happy to see so many open minds many who have changed tones in the past months. This type of post has come up before. Musclebrains your thoughts are well presented and thought out. If someone does not like or approve of the gay lifestyle and that person has thought out the reasons and its not based on hate I have no problem with that.

Throughout my post, I was reffering to homosexual behavour, not the flamboyent homosexual culture thats often associated with homosexual behavour.

SO CHOSSER WHATW AS YOUR LAST USER NAME? YOUR POST AHD NO HUMOR IF THAT WAS YOUR ATTEMPT.

Here is my take on it, first off, you are definitely born gay, not necessarily genetic, but a certain pre-dispostion to it. I like the way musclebrains presented it, everything he says about the christian ideals is correct. I also believe that you can check out guys and not be gay, especially if you were at one time homophobic (like i was). I can honestly say, without fear, that a guy can walk by me and i can check out his ass with no qualms, i have no desire to have sex with him, kiss him or whatever. When people finally wake up and realize that certain behaviors are normal (i.e. check out someone of the same sex) they become more safe with their own sexuality, hell, there was a point in my life when i was terrified at the thought that i may be gay, no bullshit. I don't agree with the lifestyle because I believe it is morally and religiously wrong, but hey, if you wanna be gay, more power to you.
