What can I do about my gyms incline bench being too inclined.

My gym only has 1 incline bench and Ive being told on these boards that too much of an incline goes more for shoulders. And I think my gyms is too inclined, you cant adjust anything on it. Should I use 1 of the 2 non bb incline benches on the smith machine or use a ball for incline bench on the smith machine (I seen a guy do these the other week, he simply angled himself to an incline)
Please help me out

either put an adjustable bench in the squat rack.

or arch your back a lot on the incline bench to reduce the real incline.

We dont have any adjustable benchs except for the decline bench (usually used for sit ups).
Could arching my back hurt it in any way?
Thanks for your help anyways,I would have never thought of that lol

put a 25lb plate under the front of it, This will lift the front and lower the incline. Dont arch your back!

agreed simply raise the front up a little. Make sure its balanced. Arching your back is proper bench form, why no arch?

Arching your back is NOT proper bench form for flat or incline in general lifting. Powerlifter use it to change the angle of resistance and essentially turn a flat into a decline. if you want to do decline do decline, otherwise keep the back flat on the bench!

deathdroprob, you said "Should I use 1 of the 2 non bb incline benches on the smith machine".

That means you at least have an incline bench that you can move around right? If so, just put it in the squat rack instead of the smith machine.

Thats odd, everything I read about bench in SS says to maintain the same arch. I'm not talking about an extreme arch, but still. Oh well, to each his own I suppose. Doesn't help with the size of my 'glutes' I can't get flat on the bench unless I lift my feet up, which I refuse to do for safety/balance issues.

Ya, Im talking about an extreme arch, which is what I thought you were talking about. Yes maintain the normal arch of your body.
