WHAT, besides squats, CAN I DO TO BUILD UP GLUTES?

still suffering from the "flat ass" syndrone........what exercises/lifts do ya'll reccomend that work to pump up the ol' glutes?

please don't say squats.........no matter how i try to do squats, they detroy my lower back for days after.

what other exercises can i use for this problem area?
 
Deadlifts, sl deadlifts, deep leg presses, deep hack squats. My ass gets bigger pretty much in proportion to my legs. Anyone know how to atraphy glutes?
 
Reverse Hypers, Stiff Legged Deadlifts, Standing leg curls, Good mornings...

For me that's an easy one, more squats. I built a beautiful set of Glutes from deep squats. I did occasionally use leg press and lunges but squats was really all that I needed. I get compliments still on my rear from chicks that have known me for years. I guess it's compensation for not getting calves.
