I'm just looking for viewpoints on a topic so i can use them in real life. Everyone's advice seems pretty good and i just want some more pointers so i can try them out. It just struck me as 'too forward' to approach a woman w/o an excuse to talk to her. To me asking a valid question (what did you think of the test, etc) is ok but just asking her name sounded like it'd put her off. I wanted to see what other people have to say on the subject.

I approached about 7 different women last week (something around that number) so its not like im just talking about this stuff.

Not true. You just need an opener and i'm trying to determine if you need an excuse or if you can just talk.

I have no problem carrying on a conversation i'm just curious as to whether coming up with an excuse to talk (what class did you get out of, did you understand this, thats a nice X where did you get it) is necessary or if i can just ask for a name and start a conversation that way.
