hell to the yes... excellent idea imo...
if i didnt have to bench in competition, i would not waste my time with it...
i so wish i could compete in a squat/dl event... sadly they dont have those...

Bench is a great exercise, only ppl that dont like it are the ones that arent that good at it imo.
But if you ABSOLUTELY dont care what your bench is or if you dont want a nice chest development, then go ahead and switch them.
You could do what EM said, or you could also do 4 days with one day devoted to power cleans + vert assistance work. That way youre not tired before your DL's
exactly... one can have an exceptionally strong upper body and still not be able to bench much... it is mostly a matter of leverage...
and ive come to realise that i dont completely suck at bench either, as im good for 1.5x my bw, and working on a program now that should bring it up quite a bit more, as i will admit i have not taken it very seriously... that is about the same level that most guys on this site that weigh 200ish and bench 300ish...
for chest development, sure it is one, if not, the best excersise... however, it is not a very accurate guage of functional strength...
someday when i am through with my powerlifting goals i would love to devote an entire year towards olympic lifting...
