After a few really shitty days, I gave in and decided to try some meds for a while before I hurt somebody or myself. The doc prescribed Wellbutrin. He told me to take 150mg for the first two weeks. I took my first pill this morning and feel almost like I am on eca again. I think eca for too long, low carbs and overtraining is what messed me up in the first place. I'm just wondering how this stuff is going to fix my problem . . . . right now I feel like I could have just taken some eca (hot, sweaty, etc.). Any insights?

Wellbutriun takes 2 weeks to work. It is a mild seritonin re-uptake inhibator. I like it because it is mild with little sides, unlike Zoloft and Prozac. In about 2 weeks you will start feeling a little gitty. You nay have some mental strife but it will be easier to laugh at it. I think the eca feeling you have is in your head. If anything the stuff will VERY mildly sedate you initially and even make you feel a little tierd. I have used Wellbutrin 2 times before and quite when I no longer felt like I needed it. Though I think I will need to start again soon. Havent been feeling very good lately.

ECAs deplete seritonin at a very slow rate....however over extended periods of usage you will not make enough to keep a level playing game, if you will, stress will become harder to deal with and good things will be not as good as they used to be....been there...

Although I think you missunderstood your doc. I highly doubt your free test if 187 out of 210. Free test is usually 2-4% of your total test!

210 is low and that can cause depression! Your free test is probably like 8-10

The wellbutrin might make you feel a little better, but if your test stays at 200 you will continually lose LBM and put on fat! HRT might be better than Anti-depressents. Your Doc should have seen the corrolation between low test and your depression.

I went to the doc thinking I might be a good candidate for HRT too. My total test is 642 ng/dL. . . . free test is 186.5 pg/mL. . . which is 2.9% test/free test%. He said it was normal, but I'm not sure how to interpret the results. . . . .

Yes that is correct it works on the dopamine pathway primarily, which will have secondary effects on other levels

dopamine is also influenced by T levels

My thoughts are the Wellbutrin should make you feel better, and avoid the ECA's because they can lead to depletion of neuro's without enough supporting nutritional substrate

i was irritable and a little hyper my first couple of weeks on Wellbutrin (300mg ED) but then it went away. i've had no adverse sexual sides like i did with Lexapro (an SSRI). i would say give it at least 3-4 weeks before you make any decisions, that is unless it's really driving you nuts.

I agree with the above. When I first started taking it, it made me real antsy like I was taking ECA, except no sweating and no mood swings. That subsided after a couple weeks. I take 150mg of that with 37.5 of paxilCR. The wellbutrin still gives me good energy when I take, but its not so much that its a negative. I really like it because when you're deeply depressed you hardly feel like moving. At least wellbutrin has that immediate effect of giving you more energy.

I became a two-pump chump while on welbutrin. It was embarrassing. Other meds like zoloft and prozac have the opposite effect.

Partly right.

Wellbutrin IS an SSRI but only secondarily. It primarily works on the dopamine pathway. In short, it modulates both serotonin and dopamine. It normally takes a week or two to kick in and it is not uncommon for you to have some sides initially like headaches, insomnia, etc. These sides should dissappear after a few weeks. Due to it's pharmacokinetics (fast half life), it has to be taken three times a day (wellbutrin) or twice daily (wellbutrin SR). You should be slowly escalating your dose to get to the therapeutic dose your doctor has recommended. That is, if your doc says 150 mg twice daily, you should probably start at 75 mg twice daily; take that for 2 days then go to 100 mg twice daily and take that for 2 days. Then finally take the 150 mg twice daily after that. You will find the sides less severe if done that way.

One of the good things about wellbutrin is that it seems to increase sex drive in many patients, unlike most other SSRI's.

On the sex drive issue I sure agreee with Spidey. I used to be on Effoxor XR but was taken off of it because MassHealth no longer covers it. Now that i'm on Wellbutrin, my sex drive is raging again even with all the AS and Test I do.

just got put on welbutrin for depression. took my first dose like 2 hours ago. feeling the initial sides already the eca kinda feeling. im about to be starting a low dose tren ace test prop dbol anavar cycle for 15 weeks. 115 mg test a week 65 of tren 30mg dbol a day for the first 33 days then 30 mgs anavar for the rest of the cycle. itll be about 380 mgs of steriods a week. way over what your body naturally produces. but yeah i just wanted a second oppinion from some one experienced with gear and welbutrin. im thinking my low doses shouldnt cause a problem and my growth should be gradual and solid. quick in the bigining then ill lean out and get more solid. also i have hcg clomid and nolva for pct. please message back

Wellbutrin starts to kick in at 2 weeks for most people. it's really not considered an ssri, but instead targets dopamine & norepinephrine reuptake along with altering intracellular signaling in the limbic system. it's considered an aminoketone. off label uses include ADHD, bipolar disorder, & weight loss.
