Well I am now being sued for malpractice.. what a waste of my time

The guy that died on my floor a couple weeks ago, well his family, mainly his brother, is now suing me. He called me to tell me he wouldn't quit til I had nothing, following that comment he threatened my life. Are people really this stupid or are this their get rich quick schemes? He said he'd be willing to take it out of court and settle.

Apparently their case is I knew the client was in severe danger and I did nothing to prevent him from hurting himself which cost him his life.

This is going to be a waste of my time and money

i wouldn't worry about it too much. The family isn't very intelligent if they're telling you they're suing you THEN threatning your life in the same conversation. you should have recorded the conversation and have the idiot arrested.

While I am sympathetic to the family and believe that they are grieving and angry and looking to point fingers to absolve what guilt they may be feeling themselves (which doesn't excuse it, you are clearly not at fault), I also share BM's rage over our lawsuit happy society.

M really sorry you have had to experience this whole situation. I just caught up with the thread and felt really awful about the way some people responded to you opening up and sharing your situation.

Hang in there, good judges can see through frivolous lawsuits, especially if the attorney defending you files the proper response right from the start.
