It is the heightened sensory perception that makes my workouts better after a smoke. It's hard to explain but after a little toke (not a big one!) I can 'feel' my muscles contract more and I feel like I can squeeze them that much harder. It's very hard to explain. I can actually curl heavier weights after a smoke as i can contract my bi's harder and for more reps. Sounds weird, I know.

Please don't flame me if you are a cannabis hater, I'm just passing on my own experience and, for the record, I don't take it often and in small doses when I do.

UglyASS ;)

I have the very same effect and you actually described it pretty well. There's no reason to feel guilty about the use of cannabis -- it's a far healthier "recreational drug" than alcohol. That's simply undeniable.

Marijuana is marijuana, no matter what the strain is the effects are basically the same despite what you've heard. No marijuana is going to make you active like coccaine would or another drug, it's a mild hallucinogen. If you smoke bongs right before your workout I doubt you're very serious about your training.

Actually you are wrong. Thats like saying steroids are steroids. Cannabis is usually a blend of two of its species indica or sativa. There is a third species that is debated to exist, ruderalis, that grows in russia. You don't hear much about that one because it is very low in THC.

Cannabis sativa is a tall plant, generally between 8 and 12 feet. The leaves have long thin fingers and are light green. The more equatorial varieties have more yellow pigments to protect the plant from intense light. Sativa buds are long and thin and turn red as they mature in a warm environment. In cooler environments the buds may be slightly purple. Sativa plants smell sweet and fruity and the smoke is generally quite mild. It is a source of fiber for rope and other products and it contains THC which gives smokers the psychic effects they seek. The leaves of this plant are smoked but the most highly prized part of the plant is the top.

Cannabis indica, is plentiful in the Mideast, India, and Central Asia especially Afghanistan, Kashmire, and Pakistan. It is a short plant, generally between 3 and 6 feet, and its leaves have short broad fingers. The leaves are generally dark green sometimes tinged with purple. As they near maturity, the leaves may become significantly more purple. It is a strong smelling plant with a "stinky" or "skunky" smell. The smoke of indicas is generally thick and more prone to cause coughing when inhaled. Indicas are the traditional source of hashish.

* Cannabis ruderalis is a debated third variety of cannabis found in Russia, Poland, and other eastern Europen countries. Schultes classified cannabis as having three species: sativa, indica, and ruderalis based on the formation of the seed pods. There is some debate as to whether there is justification for this third category. Some features of ruderalis are large seeds, short weedy plants (4-6 feet tall) and a lower level of thc than sativas or indicas.

Now for you to say that anyone who smokes weed before or after they work out is not very serious about their training....maybe you are right. There's probably alot of us that smoke herb on this board that are bigger and stronger than you too. Not that that matters, but who are you to judge all of us? I work out in some form(cardio/weights) 5-6 times a week and I don't even I don't take life all that seriously. Go figure.

I know what I'm about to do though.

Light up a bowl of some nuggs!!! :fro: :rasta: :garza: :doublefi: :dance2:

These are my thoughts and experiences down to a T.Now Im not saying I do this every week but once every week or two I partake before a workout and get the most incredible pumps and concentration.

Weed is ok when used as a supplement not when used purely for recreation. I know about 8 pro's here in CA and out of them about 4-5 smoke here and there. If you cannot eat and a couple hits of a joint will help you eat then use it. If it will help you sleep when you cant use it.
Sometimes after a hard leg workout I cannot eat so the first thing I do is take about 3-4 good tokes of a joint, relax for about 10 mintues then eat what I have to.
If your doing it everyday all day long then you are just warrenting bodybuilding as an excuse for your habit. Like I said use it as a supplement and you will be fine.

By the way, on the indica/sativa issue. Marijuana consists of many psychoactive compounds: THC (both delta -8 and -9), CBD, THCV, CBN etc . . . Sativa is high in THC and low in the sedating CBD, resulting in a more hallucinogenic/"manic" high. Indica is often balanced in CBD and THC, resulting in a more sedating/"stoney" feeling. Some South African varieties have a lot of THCV resulting in altered, almost "acidic" highs. Ruderalis and hemps are very low in THC. Sativa and indica are biologically the same species since they cross and mate easily, but they are classified into different taxonomic groups because their cannaboid profiles are so different that they are essentially different substances in their utility to humans. The problem most people have in understanding all this initially is that they think marijuana is one drug (like alcohol or cocaine), but it's not. It's really a biological entity that produces hundreds of closely related psychoactive drugs (the cannabinoids).

Um, no. It's not even close to the same analogy. LIke I said marijuana isn't a stimulant, it isn't a depressant, it's a mild hallucinogen-therefore it's range of effects when smoked are very narrow. Just like every other drug out there. Some might make you more sleepy, hungry etc...but there isn't a magical plant out there that acts like a stimulant like some people are claiming because it simply doesn't have the chemical properties to do that.

Just because something liek Alcohol is labeled a depresent ...does not mean teh person will be in a sense depressed...while in defenition their system will be..they tend to be very stimulated...active..agressive etc.

Smoke up guys. I personally like a good stong smoke..be4 heavy leg workout..makes the pain bearable..and lets me go beyond the pain..and do many more lbs than without. A weekend smoke is also very nice.

Everything in moderation.
