~Wedding Dress~

I bought my wedding dress today! It is a really simple Palmoa Blanca. I will post up some pics when my friend sends me the ones she took of it. It has spagetti straps and I look like big ol princess in it (which wasn't really the look I was going for but I couldn't help that I loved it). I am not getting married until January, but I found it at a local Goodwill for only $80 so I pounced on it. I think they retail for over a grand at least so I think I got a pretty good deal! Now I've got to find all the other things to go along with it (shoes, wrap, etc.). I can't stop looking at it!

Isnt a really sweet bargain deeply gratifying? And we have to admit that wedding gowns are way overpriced but most of us feel like we have to buy a new one, and bridal shops know this, so they gouge the hell out of us.

Wow and congrats! I tried them on for the first time on Saturday (getting married October 15th). I kept falling in love with dresses 3 times more than my dress budget. Oh well. I'm going to keep looking!

You're lucky to ahve been able to get one off the rack! I'm stressed out because the wedding is in 6.5 months and it takes 4-6 months for most dresses to arrive once they're ordered. That's cutting it close! Especially with alterations!

Thanks everybody! My boy is in Iraq right now, so all of this is sort of bittersweet. I just starred at the dress yesterday and bawled my eyes out. That is weird...damn hormones!

I'm staying busy with school, work, and yes planning! Unfortunately, we are all too used to deployments. It is hard to plan without him here b/c communication is pretty rough (I get some emails and a few calls). I don't want to overload him with ideas and questions either when we talk.

Oh...and I have the pics...some one needs to tell me how to post them. Oh and they are sideways too...hmmm.

This is by far the best thing that I have read in connection to a wedding. I wish there was some way for women to see that there is no need whatsoever to spend a pile of cash on *a dress*. It ain't the dress that is supposed to last the lifetime (although by amount of money one is expected to pay, one would think that!) it is:

THE UNION.

If I ever make that fatal mistake... I am sooooooooooo jumping a broom in my pajamas!
