I just wanted to share something with all of you. I am a Youth Pastor, and if you hate God, please keep reading. For so long the church has been known for what we are against (Gay marriage, pro life, anti this anti that, you know what I am talking about). But the church has not been known for what they are doing to help make this world a better place.

So this week I did a Missions trip to our community. We went and helped people who were poor, helped work on their homes and fix stuff up. I was really proud of my teens. I am vary tired as we worked really hard, and I didn't get much sleep. I am now putting tiger-balm on all my bug-bites and trying to rest.

Jesus came to earth to bring love, joy, peace and freedom to those whose lives were out of control, and hurting. I think the church for so long just wanted to tell people how to live, instead of bringing people to life. I don't know if any of this makes sense to you, but it does to me.

Later to all and have a great weekend.

There is certainly many examples of how Christain groups do wonderful things in local communities. In our town, the Christian Mission use some of their funds to run a mobile soup kitchen. There's alot of hidden poverty in the town and you'd be surprised who uses the van every evening. As well as the homeless, you also have young unmarried mothers, pensioners, those with lifelong learning difficulties and disabilities that prevented them working, and immigrants who came with nothing and despite working huge hours still have nothing. I've always admired the Christian Mission for their work.

A Jesus follower. I hate saying Christian because so many people have so many flawed views of what a Christian is.

Habitat for Humanity... you don't need to be a Christian to pick up a hammer.

I've volunteered myself and Jesus didn't have to tell me to do it.

well thanks for helping in society. As for the religion part, well I feel it just gets in the way of that.

With the religion thing, keep in mind I didn't say I am religious. I just love God which causes me to do certain things now. It's vary hard for me to explain on a message board. To all those that made comments about how Religion just gets in the way, I would like to ask why. What is it really that you have against Jesus. What did he do to you that you don't like Him and want nothing to do with Him. I am guessing it's because of some of the Christians that your turned off by Him. But I could be wrong.

Some very great people here - whatever you call it, religion, spirituality, faith, charity as long as you are doing good to better other's lives it is perfect.

If you glean pleasure from helping others, expecting nothing in return except for the satisfaction of knowing that you made a difference, affected someone's life in any way: great or small, then that is a wonderful feeling... isn't it?

That can NEVER be a bad thing. :)

And the fact that you are helping to teach this feeling to youth, well then that is a good thing times a thousand.

I'm not sure how you can love God and follow Jesus and not have some kind of gravitation towards an organized religion of some kind.

Let me ask you this - do you believe that Jesus is God or God's son? (this is not dig of any kind I'm just curious)

Yea I just quoted myself LOL... but I wanted to add what I was thinking but didn't post in this post.

There are MANY PEOPLE who are not religious or part of any organized religion WHO DO THE SAME THING.

I am not knocking anyone for their religious beliefs but merely pointing out to those who are religious or who do belong to some sort of organized religion that you don't NEED religion to do these things. :)

A good person who tries to do good is a good person who tries to do good. .... and the world can never have too many of those people.
