we are hated

I am watching 60 minutes...and someone I respect is doing the interviews....Christiane Amanpour.

She asked 'rich', educated, college Pakistani students a few questions. They said they have a soft spot for bin Laden...while they do not support his extremism, they do feel the anger bin Laden feels and kind of admire him for taking action.

Again, they do NOT support terrorism. They want to come to America to study and advance their lives and the lives of their people.

But like they say, we have ignored the plight of Muslims around the world, using them and leaving them with the aftermath of wars fought on their land.

It hurts me deeply to know that many of the people I have worked with, laughed with, etc., have been feeling this way.

We are hated for good reason, not because we are rich and better off..

..we are hated because we have not lived up to our promises.

These are the seeds of a long, protracted, ineffective war on terrorism.

yeah, the warm fuzzy feeling of reaping the benefits of our country disappear when they go home and we don;'t do more for them doesn't it? Piss on them. Next time do it without the US

Naw, having a government which prevents the furtherment of society and kills anyone who doesn't fall in line are the seeds of terrorism. Schools supporting Jihad, recruiting Muslims to "kill Americans" support this terrorism. We have no alternatives. The passivism expressed by past Presidents does not work, as many people (dems and repubs) are quick to point out.

But why do they hate the US? I doubt China or Russia ever did much to help the muslim cause.

There has been war in the middle east for thousands of years. The US has only been involved there for what...the last 50 years or so?

I think they hate the US (and most western countries) because they _need_ to hate something. The US is just the most visable target.

I think you have a deep down crush on Bin Laden. Maybe you should write him a letter professing you desire to tickle his turban. Possibly he will invite you back to his cave for a candlelight dinner date.
