Water VS. Coca-Cola (a backup to Ninja X's post)

We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before.

WATER
75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (Likely applies to half world population)
In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.
Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.
One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a U-Washington study.
Lack of water, is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.
Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen
or on a printed page.
Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is
50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
Are you drinking the amount of water you should every day?

COKE
In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.
You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.
To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.
To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.
To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.
To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.
To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for sumptuous brown gravy.
To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

For Your Info:
The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its Ph is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.
To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.
The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years! Now the question is do you want a coke to drink or water?

i clicked on this thread cos to my absolute amazement i thought someone was asking 'which is better?'

thank god it wasnt. although it would of been fun reading the replies.

I'm an admitted Coke addict (Coca-Cola that is). I love it even though I know it's bad for me. I have dropped it down to no more than one a day though. Maybe I should form a Coke support group.

I read this same thing about coke a couple of years ago and decided to try out the coke and steak experiment as well as the coke and nail experiment. The literature said after two days of sitting in a bowl of coke that a steak would be completely dissolved. Well, it didn't happen. It just stunk like hell and attracted the ants. The literature also stated that after four days in a bowl of coke a nail would be dissolved. Again nothing happened. I thought something might happen with the steak but I knew the nail part was going to be complete bullshit. Don't believe everything you read. They're smearing coke the same way others smear steroid use.

I'm a Diet Pepsi adict personally. so I hear ya frorider6. I wish I could limt my consumption to 1 can a day. I'm at about 4 a day now and it used to be a lot worse let me tell ya. Baby steps.

his past 3 grandfather's died from it. good job on the post:D

Fuck me! Is she still alive do you know? I try to drink extra water for every can I drink so I guess my biggest concern is my teeth eventually falling apart (I had soem cavities in weird places and my dentist said there was nothing I could have done to prevent it but I'm not so sure). Did she notice any adverse health effects like that?

You hate everything don't you BBV? Beer drinkers, pot smokers, non-bodybuilders, and now (gulp) coca-cola drinkers.......

...next you'll be turning your attention to those that dare eat a Burger King........

Gary... once again, jumping to conclusions will make you look nothing but stupid.

I drink Coke myself.

I posted because I saw this information, and it made me think twice. So now... when I want a drink of Coke, I'll have a glass of water instead.

It'll be rough, because I absolutely love the stuff.

Don't take everything as a personal insult.

You must be very insecure.

Didnt this shit just come up a week ago and it was all just a myth? Oh yes, here it is :

http://www.snopes2.com/cokelore/acid.htm

I hear they use Coke to make atomic weapons and e-coli strains. Bad shit.. Bwhahahaha!

Makes you realize that the Internet is not the epitome of truth as you thought huh? If you believe everything you read on the 'net, I got some excellent beach front swamp land to sell ya in Florida. PM me if interested.

I like the occasional Coke, although I prefer Pepsi Max. I think it's called Pepsi One in the US.

Freshr1.... that takes a load off, damnit.

I've never seen any proof of any of this... but I live a short distance from the coca-cola plant, and want to take a look to see if their trucks have the hazardous material signs on 'em.

I'll post what I find.

It seems a little odd, I admit.

It doesnt matter if it's got a hazardous material sign on it. Chances are the cola trucks are carrying cola syrup which is much lower in pH than the coke you drink. It is acidic of course, but once you add the carbonated water, it gets diluted. I've never seen a hazardous material sign on the fridge in my local 7/11.

As long as you don't fall asleep in a bath of coke or sit for hours with a mouthful in your mouth, who cares.

It's not as strong as your stomach acid.

jesus coke and lemonaid have the same pH, dare i say "so what?" it tastes great, try testing the pH of a orange! it is pretty low, or test the base of soap, it is high as hell, and you rub it on your hands all the time, again "so what" 0 -7 -14

I go thru a 12 pack of diet-pepsi every couple of days. It would be a living heck to go without it.

I don't know for sure, but maybe I need to be set sailing from the caffeine...

Actually, I think it is the whole mix that works for me.
So crisp, so light, so refreshing... (as the can says)

I can't stand coffee, booze or tabacco. Diet-pepsi is my thing.

I'm a weak, flawed human. I'm also addicted to sex and money.

Gave up all soft drinks five months ago. Can't say I miss it either. Glad to be off the stuff.

I have been a waitress for a couple of years, and the people who order diet coke, almost ALWAYS drink it fast, and need it refilled a million times. Whats also interesting, is that most of the people that drink diet coke, are over weight. I'm not saying all people, but alot.

I use to LOVE diet coke. I drank it all the time. Its very addicting. I'm very proud to say that I havn't had even 1 sip of soda in the past 7 months, and I don't miss it at all.

Its not only bad for your body, but horrible for your teeth. (soda in general)

damn, maybe my parents do know what theyre talking about, i am 16 years old and not once has a bottle of cocacola or pepsi been in this household, mom is crazy and never let me or my sister be anywhere near coke or caffeine, i never knew why, she jsut said that it was bad for the body, hell i finally know why now.

I can't stand any type of "Diet" pop, I hate the taste. If Im gonna drink it, might as well drink the good stuff

Hey Big Brother Val,

Most of that stuff on the Coke is bullshit. I don't wanna come across as negative but it's just false. It WON'T eat away at a steak or a nail. Seltzer water has the same effect on a corroded battery and won't leave that sticky residue (take it from a bonified grease monkey). It'll only leave a bigger mess if you try and clean a toilet with it. Coke has no effect on rust but it will tarnish your nice chrome! Coke definitely won't loosen any rusted bolts but it will leave a sticky mess. Try WD40.

This stuff is a little crazy. Sounds like those rumors on steroids like it making your penis shrink and stuff. I agree that coke sux but go easy on it, huh? :)

About coke and high sodium, I'm not sure about real coke but diet coke has 35mg. I think I can of tuna has like twice the amount that a 6-pack of diet coke has. Does it cause some water retention? I think so but not due to the sodium. I came off of diet coke for 1 week and lost a few extra pounds, but of course it was all water and it came right back when I went back on.

My suggestion is drink it as much as you want while dieting and then stop a week before your show or whatever you're dieting for. I'm always fully hydrated and I drink mostly diet coke. My piss is always clear, never yellow. When I took my last piss test I thought they were gonna say something because it looked like I just poured some sink water into the cup heh.

I'm not sure where I read it but I think it was from one of the Mentzers who stated the the water used in soda pop is actually distilled and ends up being better than your average tap water. I'm not sure if it's true but nonetheless I read it.
