I'm reading
_Out of Our Past: The Forces That Shaped Modern America_
by Carl N. Degler. verrrryyyy dry.
I'm comparing this to the one I read last month on American historical perspectives from the minority point of view (written by a Japanese academic)
Impressed? heehee. Not really, I'm sure. All this talk about the war on this board and others has lead me to believe that I really don't understand my country anymore.
My values are so different from the whole, it seems. Searching, searching, searching....
What are you reading? I'd rather be reading fiction...my fave SciFi lately is Vernor Vinge stuff.
James Baldwin is my absolute favorite...I'm still trying to finish all of his novels.
