when i lived in a cold mountain area and bought a french bulldog the little shit had to sleep inside until the winter passed and she would never STFU she had her own bed but we needed to be at work at 6:30a.m. so sometimes we would just let the little shit in the bed so she'd shut up, HOWEVER we had a special plastic cover just in case she did have any kind of accident so it wouldnt ruin the mattress, she was semi potty trained but accidents happen with puppies, however, there was no way in FUCK we were gonna let our dogs ruin the mattress, if she did have an accident we would IMMEDIATELY wash our sheets and even if she didnt we would also wash them frequently due to general hygiene, being a dog owner doesnt mean neglecting hygiene, health and common sense, but I do know what it's like to try to set boundaries with your dogs and have your partner sabotage your authority and I feel for you, if both of you arent on board it isnt that easy...

Jeez dude, at least accept that you could have done more, found alternatives. If a dog is running your life, you are part of the reason that is happening. That dog should respect you, respect your commands, and recognize you as pack leader (which it clearly doesn't, if you have to struggle to get alone time from it). If it doesn't, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Seriously though, what was he supposed to do if she refused to participate in training that dog properly? If only one person is trying to train a dog, it just doesn't work, because in the hours that person isn't around...the other undoes all the work that's been put into training. It was choke a bish or leave, and he left...he did the right thing.

Not to mention that you're just glossing over her obvious hygeine issues.
