He'll serve it all, you don't get a chance for parole or released early on federal charges

23 months for dog fights ? I've seen robbers and rappist get less lol
its definitely steep..

im sure if you look back and similar cases dog fighters got much less than that. he was just made an example of because he's a public figure.

Canada is for pussies; we use real justice

But you know your tax dollars are paying to have him sit in jail ? I'd rather see him outside paying taxes.

Real justice ? lol What about OJ... lol

I'd rather see him in room full of hungry dogs; but that's just me.

if you can torture a dog than put a rope around its neck and strangle it to death.. you dont belong on this planet.

i was under the impression you had serve federal sentences in full.
Pretty sure it is a minimum of 85%.
That is what the law clerk for the federal judge I worked for told me.
I can do a lexis search and find out.
lol at my super-nerd procrastination

Thats the bullshit part. Either you favor him being treated differently because of who he is or you don't. If you don't then he should have gotten 12-18.

He was screwed because it was a federal crime. There are mandatory minimum sentences for federal crimes.

was it federal because of crossing state lines?

also could the feds have not charged him, and just let the state handle it?

RICO!

And criminal cases involving federal laws can only be tried in federal court.

Vagabino said:
this wasn't a rico case, if it was he'd be doing 20yrs for each rico count

That is how the prosecutors got him to plea. They threatened him with RICO charges.
He pled guilty to federal conspiracy charges.

Wait till State charges are announced. Virginia State are tougher than Federal for dog fighting and illegal gambling.

He's looking at 5 years minimum on State charges.

although i despise his low class actions and venal stupidity; i cannot help but think he was singled out because of his fame and public attention.

he definitely was.. if he was a nobody and there was no media frenzy surrounding this he'd be looking at half the time. the public wanted blood.. and they got it.

if i'm not mistaken, this was the steepest sentence for dog fighting to date.

i think that the whole "state charges" thing is complete bullshit. . .if i understand it correctly, the reason the feds got involved is because the state waffled on pursuing the case in the first place. . .now the motherfuckers are gonna come and pick the man's bones. . .fuck viriginia. . .they had their chance and they waived it. . .they could have saved the u.s. taxpayers a boatload of money (not to mention all the federal lab time that could have been spent on important stuff. . .like friggin' terrorism) if they would have pursued it themselves to start with, they should be barred from charging him with anything. . .

I thought it was 80% of your sentence
yeah i guess you're right.

did you see the Falcons last night, showing off "free Vick' t-shirts?

i cant help but feel bad for him.

i think people who kill dogs the way he did are disgusting and should have their asses kicked... but i dont believe they should lose 2 years of their life for it.

i don't think the federal gov't really gave a shit about the dogs, they wanted him because of the illegal gambling. the feds don't play that shit.

yeah it does seem harsh
i think if vick woulda come clean and did a pr stint he would be out in 10 months. failing a piss test? that's juvenile big time.
but he was defiant at first, denied all invovlement...which is gonna burn you when months later you plead guilty. judges hate that shit and take it personally, witnessed it first hand :(

during the game last night they said if he was 100 percent honest at the very beginning he wouldn't have done any time period.
