Well, technically , most bodybuilders are overweight-even if they are at 3%bf. The medical community and to an extent society simply refuses to accept that an average male is not 150 pounds. I know I always get s**t about my BMI from doctors proclaiming it's as unhealthy as fat mass(I'm 6'1 260 9%).
I agree that bbers are the most motivated and dedicated of all atheletes and people in general. It isn't even a worthy comparison to guage our "sub-culture" to your average sedentary couch potato that is ubiquitous in the land of the obese-the U.S.A. We are a rare, rare breed. It is disgusting to see the lack of discipline, will-power, and knowledge that average people have when you are in the bodybuilding communinty(or even any other seroius atheletic endeavor). I have a great deal of respect for all dedicated atheletes(golf, curling, and bowling not included as atheletics), but bodybuilders by far work the hardest for thier goals. In no sport is sacrifice required to the extent that it is in bodybuilding. It takes the strongest of minds to be a bodybuilder. Most people dread the gym, or any physical activity for that matter...We live for it. The pain and pumpd are our addiction and the growth and stares our reward. In a society that is growing more careless by the day, by the generation, it is both enlightning and fullfilling to associate with goal seekers and hard workers. I'll take a dumbell in my hand any day over that bag of trans fat fried ruffles potoato chips. We keep alive the human form and human potential...Much like the Greeks made popular. We are more than men(or women), we are examples of truth.
