Velvett! Decorating Emergency!!

FreeballinDC

Dumper Humper
Last Friday, the uber-boss emailed me to let me know he wanted me to pic out appropriate pics for our offices to hang on the walls.

A co-worker directed me to this site

The pics have to be in some sort of law enforcement vein, with particular attention to communications (i.e. radios).

This is my first time an putting something like this together, I really need to butch it up, so it doesn't look like some homo with a uniform and law enforcement fetish decorated.

Thanks for your help in advance!

okay...you do realize how majorly huge a cliche this thread title is, right?

:)

The fruits of Gonazales torture memos would be good.

For real?

No lie, sweetness, this is for the reals!

I kid you not, you should see what's hanging on the walls of our offices downtown. Also, the pics on the site I posted above go for between $200 to $300 a piece. There is some serious cash involved.

Yes, I know, which is why I posted it as such.

You know, that last pic would look really good in my office, right next to my signed award from Maddy Albright.

Er, I would suggest taking measurements of each wall and doing a sketch as to how you'd like to lay out the framed photos. Or lay them out on the floor in front of the wall and step back.

Don't think rows and columns - they can be stagered (I'll try and find some pics) start from the center and work your way around.

Wide white matting (if there's money for it a double matt with a gray accent matt), clean thin frames (black or brushed stainless), non glare glass if there's money for it.

Oh and while it's a matter of opinion - I think all the photos should be black and white or sepia prints.

You could always take the allotted cash, go to a discount art store, buy some canvas & some cheap paint at Home Depot, a roller brush & make your own "abtract art" like they do on those home design shows. Scrawl your signature in the corner and frame it! Voila! ART!

LOL!!! You rock man.

just have some of the covers from men's fitness enlarged and tastefully framed??

Velv,

Double matts in bone and cream and go for either duotones or tritones instead of the sepia or monochromes... will grab the eye better under office lighting, no?

Idea, what do you think: its law enforcement, dont stagger them, keep the flow obvious and direct.. use a rail. and either brushed stainless or faux titanium hangers, maybe. What say you?

Freesexy: go to tonystone.com and start on some searches, you might find better luck with the getty archive, its huge, and since your licencing is one time, one space, it might be cheaper.

I just have this thing about cream - not sure why - it's a mental thing.
But yes - lighting does have a lot to do with it.

Lighting here is atrocious, so I need something that will overcome this. I was thinking the pics to be in color, but I like the neutral gray and cream colors to keep the highlight on the picture itself.

CheffieStud, I like the brushed aluminum/steel or either matte black or like a chrome black.

As much as I would like to share pics with her of what I have to deal with, I work in a sensitive area, so no pics allowed. Just imagine florescent lighting and cream colored wallpaper.

Yeah, thats what I thought too. Shoot me, and take me out of my misery.

Yes I am, although you will miss the big leather event known as MAL for MLK weekend (next weekend)

Mid Atlantic Leather weekend.

Think drag queen meets Michael Jackson. Or is that redundant?
